the scoops I received were Copco chrome versions of this scoop - not the stainless wilton version that is shown in the picture.
You cannot was them in the dishwasher without dimpling and ruining the finish.

very disappointed!!!!

When I read the review about the poor guy who got the fake scoop, I figured he was just an unlucky dude. I was really impressed with the looks of the one I received. The problem is that the scoop is not stainless and built in China. It may work real well but I am not going to buy a lie. Take the "Stainless Steel" off the description! I bought this one because I already broke my other China scoop in half. I sent it back immediately when I determined it was a great looking fake. At least Amazon made the return very easy and covered the shipping costs.

I used to think that my Pampered Chef scoop was "the bomb" b/c of the liquid inside that warms up and helps the scoop cut into the ice cream. This doesn't have that & doesn't need it! The design is perfect. The corners of the scoop dig into the ice cream effortlessly. You will love it!

We received this ice cream scoop as a gift from someone who said, "You will love this! It is the best one I have ever owned." She was right.

We have three ice cream scoops of various design in our kitchen and everyone will take an extra minute to track down this one because it works the best.

The side points give you the ability to cut into hard ice cream and then continue with a swirling motion to make the perfect scoop.

This is the best ice cream scoop. After purchasing we have thrown out our 3 other scoops that did not work as well. Almost effortless scooping of hard ice cream. I was amazed and so is everyone that uses this scoop at how well it works.

This is a really nice ice cream scoop and it is one of my most satisfied purchases. I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond at full price (~$9-10) about 6 months ago and do not regret one bit. In a way, this scoop is so great because others are so bad. I owned many ice cream scoops and they never last long. The surface metal always peels off. Later, I realize that most ice cream scoops are made with chrome coating, so they can have a very shiny coating. However, the chrome surface eventually pitted and peeled off from the core metal. I am finally tired of this and decided to buy a scoop made out of a single piece metal, preferably stainless steel for its durability and nonreactive (inert) property.

This is the scoop. It is made out of a single piece stainless steel, nothing to pit or to peel. The underneath of the handle is made out of rubber, making it more comfortable to use, especially for the rare hard-ice cream occasions. The edge of this scoop head is made thin so that it can cut into ice cream easily. This is especially so for the two sides of the scoop head, where the edge is shaped into curved points. These features allows this scoop effectively dig into hard ice cream. Although the edge of the scoop is thin, it is nowhere near a knife edge. The scoop is perfectly safe to handle.

I do agree with a criticism from another reviewer. Due to the unique wider scoop head, the scoop has problem getting the last bit of ice cream at the corner of a ice cream container. This is not a problem for me. Afterall, you can scoop out these "last bit" ice cream easily with typical dinning spoons. This is unquestionably the best ice cream scoop I have used.

I have owned many other ice cream scoopers before picking this one one. I always had the same problem with the other ice cream scoopers. Basically I can scoop out ice cream easily when it is a freshly open container of ice cream. After the ice cream has been opened up and not so soft anymore, then it is a battle to scoop it out. I recently picked up the Wilton ice cream scooper (I have many other products made by the company and love them all). Anyhow, this is hands down, by far, the best ice cream scooper I have ever owned in my life time. The corners of this scooper cuts into the ice cream, making scooping out ice cream so easy (even if it is not freshly open soft ice cream)! I am even able to get the same size scoop ice cream out each time, I am very impressed by the design of this ice cream scoop.

I do not think there is a better ice cream scoop out there! No hot water needed. It scoops ice cream almost effortlessly. It's worth its asking price. Once you try it you will agree! Wished I could find more for gifts.

Throw away all your other ice cream scoops. This one is bar-none the one you will never need to replace. Not only does it make scooping rock solid ice cream a snap, it won't hurt your hands, and the scoops actually come out neat and nicely shaped. I've had mine for seven years and have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. I've taken to adding it to every shower's "wishing well" and even put one in a birthday basket for a friend which included ice cream cups, sprinkles and toppings. It was one of the most practical and useful gifts she had ever received! Great price, great design, great product. Period.

For the past 2 years, I've wasted money @ Walmart and such for ice cream scoops that break within a few months. This Wilton scoop I bought looks and feels like a quality product. Finally, I can dig into that rock hard ice cream and not worry about snapping a 2 piece cheap handle scooper. Glad I spent the money to get this one. The one piece handle can take the pressure of scooping any type of ice cream, no matter how cold I keep the freezer.
