This leveler was such a disappointment. I bought it for a big cake project and ended up having to piece the cake back together. The blade is SO FLIMSY, it can't cut a straight line. I tried to use it to tort a sheet cake and the blade came out at the TOP of the cake! I could see it coming, but couldn't get the blade to go level. Great idea, but serious piece of junk.

This cake leveler gets the job done, it's easy to use and leaves your cake perfectly flat. I've read some reviews here saying that the blade is flimsy, and while that is true, it will definitely cut through your cake with ease. With the cake on a flat surface move the blade side to side as you go along to cut the cake, letting the blade do the work. Look on youtube for helpful videos of others using the leveler, definitely WORTH IT. Also, $5 cheaper on Amazon than at crafts stores, win!

This is a sturdy item and it cuts well. The problem I am having with it is that I can't lower the cutting piece as much as other levels. I am having trouble describing this, but it does not have small enough increments between settings. One setting is too low and when you move it up it is way too high. I can't get the precise cuts that I can with my wire cutter. I don't like this item at all and will be going back to using my wire cutter.

I bought this leveler at my local michael's store. I had previously owned the cheap wilton leveler (the 4 dollar one) and could not find it when I went to level a cake- so I ran to the store, saw this one for over 20 bucks and since the blade was larger, i thought, why not? I'll treat myself... I got this home and within 5 minutes was back in my car returning this piece of garbage. The cheap leveler is just a tight wire that cuts through your cake. Thinking this one, having a blade, would be better- I got it. The blade buckles and doesn't stay taut and you don't get an even cake- WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF BUYING A LEVELER. Buyer beware- this is a garbage piece- and I decorate lots of cakes and like "most" of wilton's products- but save your money... a serated knife would do a better job.

Having taken this item out of the box and set it up to check it, the first thing I notice is that when it is expanded the blade is not as taut as the ones with the wire, that plus the joint in the middle will create an uneven cut. Next, the height adjustments are not easy to manipulate, and most important, the height adjustments spacing does not give a balanced layering cut, one is too low and the next one up is too high for the average industry layers on standard cakes, you will end up with one layer too thin and the next too thick. I cannot recommend this item.

I don't usually write reviews but felt I needed to with this product. I don't like it. It is not sturdy at all. The blade can move in the middle while slicing through the cake. It is not stiff enough to hold it's shape or to stay straight if it comes into contact with something sturdier or stiffer then the blade is. The little wire cutter is way better then this one. The cutter has some good points but to me those are not nearly as good as the bad on this one.

Well I like the fact that its huge and could slice any size cake, the problem is the blade is a little flimsy and sometimes doesnt stay straight which completely is the opposite effect! If you are careful with it and hold the blades firm it works well. Also works better with a frozen cake.

This thing is awesome! I had the smaller one, but usually always do larger cakes so was having to do it manually..this saves so much time! And the easy cleaning and lock-in-place is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Do not waste your money on this leveler. The blade is flimsy and will bend while leveling your cake, resulting in dips in the cake. If you chill your cakes before slicing it definitely will not do the job.
