I was skeptical when I saw these in the Baker's Catalogue but was looking for someway to have brownies and cakes cook evenly - without the dried out, hard edges. These are like magic! Cakes layers are evenly proportioned (no raised centers) and brownies are rich soft no matter where it was in the pan. Easy to use - reusable. I have had mine for 4 years now and won't bake without them.

I've been using these strips for years. Simply wet them, lightly wring out excess water and wrap them around your cake pans. Your cakes will brown evenly and will not dome. These can be washed in the washing machine.

These strips are great! Most people won't need the large size; however, I bake cakes in 14, 12, 10 inch diameter pans, and I was surprised at how even my cakes started turning out when I used these. Before they used to rise unevenly and dome in the center. Now they're level all around, which is a big help when stacking tiers. I clip mine together using mini metal binder clips.

I love these strips. I have baked several cakes since I received these, and they all came out perfectly level. I've even used them on rectangular pans with wonderful results. The pins that come with the strips are a little difficult to use at first, but once I figured that part out, they were easy enough to use. I have heard that all-metal binder clips can be used instead of the pins, so I might try that in the future.

I didnt want to spend the $18.00 on theese strips because I doubted them.. Luckily I had a coupon from Michaels it was 50% off one item so I bought the 4 pack. The strips worked well . My cakes come out perfect I also use them when I make cheesecakes it is easier than the waterbath method!

Promotes even cooking and level cakes. Add a cake tester. (I like a very thin one.) Test you cake before the end of the stated cook time (cook time 30 min., start checking at 20 min). Everyone raves that my cakes are so moist. I bake a lot, so I have 4 sets of these in different sizes. I have had them for 8 years and only 2 may need replacing soon. Originally mine had a non-padded tab of the silver fabric to use to pin the 2 end together. Over time the tab wore off, making it more difficult to attach the 2 ends. I use a large T pin to attach mine; however, it is more difficult without the tab. I would definitely look for the new cake strips that have Velcro.

I've used these strips for many years after my Mom turned me on to them. What I like the most is that the cakes don't "dome" and are therefore much easier to decorate; they also rise higher overall since the crust doesn't hold them back.

One word of warning: If your cake pan is tall and it's a high-rising recipe, make sure the strips are level once you load the pan in the oven; if you don't, your cake won't be level.

The Bake-Even Strips do exactly what they advertise....they keep the edges of the cake from cooking too much faster than the middle of the cake, which makes for a more even cake. The strips are fastened with straight pins, which is cumbersome, especially when they're wet and don't want to stay on the pan. As a baker, I consider them worth the hassle of using, but would like to see a simpler application.
