I too wanted to buy bulk thinking it would be much cheaper. I can go into Michaels and pay $2.99 a bag. Why are they selling them so overpriced? Is this an error?

I just came to Amazon hoping I could buy candy melts by the case (as they sell many other food items) and pay much less than the $2.99/bag I can in stores locally. It says it's for one bag. It can't possibly be correct. Who is going to pay 2-3 more for one bag? I hope this is fixed soon as I'd love a source for these online for less in bulk. These should be $2.99 or less a bag, not $7.

Having produced around 300 cake pops in the past two weeks, please consider this advice: DON'T USE THE WILTON MELTS! I needed pink and the cake store was closed, so I tried the Wilton and it failed miserably. Too thick - even when thinned with vegetable oil. Prone to bubble formation - for some reason the surface tension of Wilton melts seems higher than the Merckens, making it much more difficult to pop the bubbles. Unpopped bubbles leads to weakened coating, which frequently springs "leakers" - oil from the frosting and cake inside seeps out the smallest pinprick of a bubble hole.

Our local cake supply and decorating store sells Merckens melts in a variety of colors for around $18 for 5 pounds. For cake pops, you will be glad you spent a little extra!
