Wilton fondant is easy to roll out, but the taste is disgusting! At first it seems okay, but the after taste will ruin any cake you serve. I highly recommend making your own fondant using Wilton glucose and glycerin. The following link contains a recipe and directions: [...].

I was so scared to buy this because other reviews had said it tasted terrible, but I really wanted to try working with fondant and I don't have the time to make my own, So I went out on a limb and bought this and I'm very happy I did. Not only did my first ever fondant cake look amazing, it was super easy to use (my only fondant tools were my plastic cutting board, my standard rolling pin and a pizza cutter)and the taste of the fondant wasn't bad at all. I'm sure if you make homemade fondant it would taste better (as all homemade things do) but if you don't have the time this is an excellent product! I will buy again!

I'm pretty new at using fondant, though I'm definitely not a novice baker. I've used Satin Ice and Fondarific fondant before, and these worked fine, but I wanted to practice covering cakes so I was really interested in the lower price. The first thing I was curious about was the taste, especially after hearing how awful it was. I tasted some, and while I could taste the difference in storing fondant in a box (it had a slight - and I do mean slight - cardboard flavor), I didn't notice any unpleasant tastes when I served the cake the next day.
I can't get over how easy this fondant is to work with - my Chicago Bears birthday cake turned out beautifully, and it was only my first try! I wouldn't hesitate at all to use this again. It's so easy to use, and the price really can't be beat.

I think this is great if it take it for what it is, boxed fondant. The consistency is great for learning, and it holds well for making decorations. I would not use it to cover an entire cake. I think home made marshmallow fondant is the best for that (better than other brands advertised by celebrity bakers). I disagree everyone that says it tastes horrible, although I have only tasted a small piece. It takes like what it is, sugar.

I disagree that Wilton is easy to roll out - perhaps that was on an extremely hot day in a very humid house?! I can't tell you how crappy this fondant is to work with. it is so stiff. My husband and I tried it several times (thinking maybe at first we just got a bad box) we both sat with half the box each and worked it until our hands were sore to get it vaguely softened. Then I tried to roll it out, it was so stiff I was using my whole body weight to roll it. My husband rolled it out with difficulty. By the time you've managed to roll it thin enough (all that effort takes time) it has dried out and cracks as it folds over the cake. Terrible fondant. SATIN ICE is much much better, more pliable, easier to roll out and much nicer flavor. Wilton flavor is kinda ok, it's not discusting like some say but SATIN ICE is so much nicer and also comes in many different flavors like vanilla or buttercream - even chocolate! whereas Wilton comes in one fake flavor. Stay away from Wilton!!!!

I'm not a huge fan of fondant. The taste especially is not my thing.
I have to say though, this was the freshest, easiest fondant I have ever used. It was so easy to roll out and play with.
I just wished it was flavored so the it would taste just as good as how it looked!

When I was trying to decide what fondant to buy, I read all of the reviews on the different brands. I was hesitant to try this one because it was said to taste bad, but bought it anyway since it was said to be easiest to use. I used it to make a cake for my mom's birthday. I added a little almond flavoring because that is her favorite, hoping to make it taste better. Now, I'm not a huge fan of eating fondant, but with the almond flavor, I thought it was not bad. Then came the real test when I served the cake to my family and everyone loved it! My niece even had to fend off my brothers attempts to steal her fondant. I will be using this again.

Love this stuff! I know most people have an issue with the taste of this product, but it doesn't bother me at all. I personally like the flavor. And always make sure to put a nice layer of icing under it that way people can choose not whether or not to eat it. Makes the cakes look fabulous. It is so easy to use. You could always make your own which is great too, but this is a great time saver. My only negative comment would be the price. i usually buy mine from Michael's with a 40 or 50% off coupon which makes it considerably cheaper.
