I use it to roll fondant & dough!

If you roll it up to store it, it stays rolled up and even taping down to a table after that is hard.

You'd be better off getting a silicone mat which is thicker and more durable.

1. This mat is VERY flimsy barely thicker than a plastic tablecloth (NOT an exaggeration) so it doesn't roll up well which makes it hard to store, box was damaged and useless after I got it. If you fold it up it creases permanently and plainly makes it useless, unless you WANT lines in your fondant or dough.
2. It is slimy after a couple uses, does not clean well. It SLIDES uncontrollably - so you either have to weigh it down with other items which results in making the already small rolling surface even smaller. I guess you could have someone sit and hold it down for you, roll with one hand or tape it down to the counter/table etc. all of which are ridiculous!
3. There is a large silicone mat available on this site that clings beautifully (doesn't budge, needs to be peeled off using both hands!) to the table/counter, requires almost zero grease/flour, gets squeaky clean w/o much effort, is heavy/large/sturdy enough to roll up and secure with an elastic band and is heat resistant to boot!!! Although you'd need a pretty large pan & oven to use it for that purpose! But it's so non stick that cut out cookies slide right off onto a regular half sheet pan.
4. Why am I talking about cookies/dough? Because the item I'm describing is an excellent multi-tasker - fondant, cookie dough, pie crust anything that requires nonstick rolling.
5. I am purposely not naming the item I'm raving about as I don't want to be accused of "planting" this review on behalf of another company. If you're interested I DO want to state that this is not a s/i/lp/a/t, if that's what you were thinking ;)
6. Search silicone rolling mat (its square w/ similar markings to the subpar Wilton) and I'm sure you'll find it. Plus it's only a couple dollars more - since I threw the Wilton one away it would've been a real bargain had I gotten it first!
7. Sorry this is so long - just wanted to stress that you will be much happier with another choice! IMO;)

I agree with the other reviewer who gave it a one star on all counts. In fact it deserves zero stars!
As I roll out the fondant the mat slides all over the place and curls up on me so I can't even see what I'm doing. It is very easy to get creases in and impossible to get them out, so when you roll the fondant it has big creases in it. There is no storage container for it so it gets dirty easily and doesn't clean up well.
It's a good idea but what a shamefully cheep product by Wilton. There are other mats that do the same thing but stick to the counter and come in a storage container. I bought one by Epicura, a non-slip pastry mat. It's almost identical to the Wilton one but a tad smaller and way better quality. It was also less expensive.

This worked great for maybe three cakes, then it sucked. Every time I used the lines to cut fondant lines(I even used the Wilton PLASTIC rotary cutter thingy)it left dents/lines in the mat which, in turn, left lines/dents in the fondant, not good. maybe should just be called the roll mat, because roll AND cut, not so much. Not to mention it is flimsy as all get out and edges roll up. I still needed something with a grid for my fondant and I just can't work the $ of a silicone one right now so I went to my local fabric store and bought a 36" piece of vinyl(the thickest they had), put that over the top of the Wilton crapper and I actually have an ok workspace. Defiantly would not by another Wilton mat though.

I have had a positive experience with the Roll & Cut Mat. That said, I have used it primarily to roll and measure my fondant. Folks who are annoyed at the fondant sticking to the mat need to get shortening (Crisco works great) and grease the mat prior to using. If you are having trouble cleaning the mat, use Dawn brand dish soap--it's the only thing I use to clean my Wilton products because it leaves a squeaky clean, non-greasy feel. When cutting on this mat, I used wax paper between the fondant and mat and could still see the grid lines and circles through. While the mat does have a tendency to roll at the corners, once it is weighted down for about an hour, it no longer curls in. So I would recommend putting something on all corners for at least an hour before using it. Finally, I have read reviews about peoples' mats sliding around because there is no gripping material on the mat's underside. I recommend spraying your countertop with water, wiping most of it away, and then setting the mat on top of the residual water before it evaporates. Problems solved! Not a bad mat for ten bucks! :-)

I bought this a while back. when I took it out of the box it came in it was rolled up and I tried flatting it many times. It was thin, refused to flatten. I ended up taping it down to use it because on top of all that it is slippy and kept moving. I ended up using the table instead.

It has a star by default, I threw mines away after the 2nd use!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT waste your money!!! I've replaced it with the wise mat, about 4 times its cost but well worth the investment.

My bad...should have read the product description more closely. Found this item to be practically worthless. It's very thin, difficult to prevent creases, slides around on the surface your working on, difficult to store without creasing it! You'd be better off getting a silicone mat which is thicker and more durable.
