Better pens exist,
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I was ready to throw the set out after one use and wish I had not wasted my money on this particular Wilton product. I highly suggest that you put the money toward another brand such as KopyKake pens or Americolor. The Wilton tips are too thick, yes including those labeled "fine tip", and although sufficient to fill in colors or make thick lines, you will be disappointed using on any design that calls for a thin line. If it were the only one of it's type out there, that would be a different story but it isn't.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I bought these markers thinking it would make it easier to "paint" on my son's birthday cake.
I don't know if the markers were dried out, or if they are just a horrible product. I attempted to write on chocolate and fondant, and it was a streaky, chunky mess. The tips of the markers balled up and then simply would not work. I ended up buying Wiltons frosting colors and just used a small brush to paint on detail.

They do not work on candy melts,
By Katie "finzup-kt" (RI, USA) - See all my reviews

Bought these to write on candy melts.. they just don't work. I would draw one "eye" and it was sort of okay, then onto the 2nd "eye" and it would just not show up. I tried wiping it with paper towel in between but that didn't even really help. Wasted $$$
I'm going to get the Americolor Gourmet Writer....

Wilson Food Writer Edible Color Markers are NOT for melted chocolate,
By
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I, too, bought these markers so that I could draw on faces on my cake pops - dipped in the Wilson melting chocolate. I got 2 eyeballs on a smiley face and a third of a grin before the black stopped working. No amount on wiping on a clean paper towel would allow me to finish the face. Seriously disappointed in the experience. It should have a note that you cannot use it with the chocolates. For example, on the melting chocolates Wilson tells you which kind of coloring you can add to white. The packaging for the markers has no information as for which uses they are meant.

Waste of Money!,
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I wish I would have read these reviews before purchasing this product at a local craft store. Like some of the other reviewers, I was trying to draw on candy melts and it didn't work at all. Now my jack-o-lantern cake pops will just have to be pumpkins :(
Wilton does have some great products, but these markers are not one of them.

Don't waste your money,

I bought this set to decorate cake pops. I only needed the black but could not find individual markers in the store. I wish I had not wasted my money on these markers. I had barely started drawing on one cake pop and the marker stopped working. Very bad quality. I'd heard several bad reviews regarding different Wilton products. I will be avoiding Wilton products from now on. There goes $8.99 + tax down the toilet...

NOT for cakepops or cakeballs,
By
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I made a real mistake thinking all cake writers were the same. This brand will not work on the chocolate covering of a cakepop or cakeball. They are terrible! What a waste of money. The tip lasts for ten seconds and then never works again even when wiped off.

Meh. Buy Betty Crocker or Americolor,

I bought these for writing on foods other than icing and fondant. They are next to useless on cheese. Okay-ish on hard-boiled eggs and peeled oranges. Terrible on bread. I hear good things about the B.C.EASY WRITER FOOD DECOR. and Americolor Food Marker Writers- 10 Color Pack from people who draw on other foods like I do who have used one or both of those, plus these ones. I will be buying those next.

even after reading the negative reviews, i went ahead and bought these pens. i figured since i was using fondant instead of chocolate/candy melts it would be fine. unfortunately, no. the pens do not draw smoothly and they dry out quickly. they might be good for bento decorations or sugar cookies with hard icing though.

Don't Waste Your Money,
This review is from: Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers (Kitchen)
I bought these hoping to add an extra cute factor to my cake pops. No such luck. I could not get them to write on the candy coating enough to even tell I had worked so hard. After a couple minutes (maybe less), they would just dig into the coating and not write at all. I thought it might just be one but it was every color in the box. They were not dried out, they just really will not write on food. Use your money wisely and purchase another brand.
