5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Wimbledon "collection", as always
It's not so easy to buy some of these collections of earlier years - Wimbledon website seems to offer them briefly and then they mostly disappear and you have to look elsewhere. So I expect I was fortunate to get this - and I am still frustratedly searching for the 2003 collection but it seems totally unobtainable. I can't understand why Wimbledon can't still make it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money
Total ripoff. Less than an hour including extras, more shots of crowd members than players, and the boring voice-over frequently reminding us that this is the only tennis tournament that really matters doesn't help a whit. A truly pointless dvd with very little tennis. Summing up hundreds of matches in about 30 minutes of footage? You do the math.
Might be worth...

Might be worth buying only if you were there and hope to see yourself in the many audience shots. Otherwise, with barely any tennis on the disc, what's the point? Pure fluff.
Go instead to the infinitely better Classic Matches at Wimbledon series; the Borg/Mac 1980 dvd has more quality in five minutes than this does in 55, and costs half as much.
Passola.

So I expect I was fortunate to get this - and I am still frustratedly searching for the 2003 collection but it seems totally unobtainable. I can't understand why Wimbledon can't still make it available.

I can't imagine any tennis fan would want to be without these splendid annual collections. In this one Federer of course thrillingly wins his second Wimbledon and if I recall rightly that was his 3rd Grand Slam out of the record 16 he now has.

So far, I've only looked at his matches shown on the DVD as earlier today was my first chance to view the DVD, but from jumping through other parts, clearly wonderful memories will be brought back..... Henman, Ivanisovic, Lleyton Hewitt, and the Williams sisters to name but a few. And the usual background information, including the persistent rain that led to play on the first Sunday and a rain-interrupted men's final.

One of the most iconic images of Wimbledon is of course its centre court with the various champions receiving their trophies. The other has to be grey skies and all the courts with their green covers drawn over as the rain pours down "again".... No roof on the centre court yet, of course.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long live Maria!, July 4, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wimbledon Collection - The 2004 Official Film (DVD)
Maria Sharapova is the best thing to hit tennis in years. In the early rounds of Wimbledon 2004, she was being compared to Anna Kournikova because of her physical beauty, but she's now gone where Anna never went by winning the big one, Wimbledon, at a mere 17 years old. (We all know Anna never won a tournament, but give her a bit of credit--she was ranked #6 in the world at one point.) Maria's powerful game, her passion for playing, and her refreshingly genuine personality make her a worthy champion and someone we look forward to watching climb the world rankings in the months and years to come.

Having just moved, I missed much of the 2004 Wimbledon event. This film, though short, perfectly recaps the event. My only qualms are how the film cuts to the player only during the rallies, and doesn't show the whole point.

And to all of you haters out there, we can now talk about Ms. Sharapova, as she won the 2006 U.S. Open, proving she is not another Michael Chang-esque one-grand-slam-wonder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maria is the best, July 5, 2004

Maria Sharapova is in my book the best female tennis player in the world. I loved watching her play at Wimbledon. She looked like she had alot of fun playing at Wimbledon. And when she won, that was the best moment of my life when serena hit the ball into the net and Maria fell to the ground in excitement and then went to hug her dad. So this DVD will be awesome because you can relive one of the best moments of Maria's live and you can tell and show your kids this DVD and then they will show there kids and so on. All in all, I love Maria and she is going to be around for a very very long time.

Love You Maria

I loved the women's final . As for Ms Sharapova being the best thing to hit tennis, lets talk about that after she wins she second grand slam , remember Michel Chang? I think her greatest attraction is not being a Williams sister.
