The characters and situations on Wimzie's House, PBS' popular children's series, were developed by psychologists, educators, and Sesame Street veterans to fulfill the show's ambitious curriculum goals: demonstrating healthy social behavior; encouraging identity development; reinforcing self-esteem; imparting social values like empathy, cooperation, and generosity; and finally, keeping kids enthralled and entertained. The series takes place in a family home/daycare center and features a regular cast of five "children," their two adult guardians, and grandma Yaya -- all varying mixes of bird and dragon species. Each three-act episode dramatizes a particular theme through song, adventure, and group conflict resolution. The Pet Tales collection presents two episodes: "A Fishy Fish Tale," which teaches the responsibility of pet ownership, and "Shaggy's Visit," the story of a lost dog who ends up at Wimzie's house.
