Book Description

Win-Win Tag Games was recently authorized by the government of Alberta as a physical education resource for teachers. The book meets the Alberta physical education curriculum standards of having students acquire skills through a variety of developmentally-appropriate movement activities; having students interact positively with others; and having students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Written in a straightforward way, the resource includes pictures for each game and promotes inclusion and maximum participation for five to fifty people. All games require a minimum of equipment and space. Depending on the skill level of their group, instructors can easily modify or combine games to create over one hundred new tag games. Ideal for all teachers, particularly those who may not have an extensive background in physical education.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Reviewed and endorsed as a source book for elementary, junior, and senior levels by the Alberta Board of Education (November 4, 1999)

From the Inside Flap

The game of tag has been played for generations. Simple, but versatile, it has a great deal to offer physical education teachers, coaches, instructors, or anyone who enjoys playing games and staying active.

Win-Win Tag Games is a collection of tag games that are fun and should be particularly relevant to elementary school teachers and daycare workers who may not have an extensive background in physical education or related fields, but who increasingly find themselves organizing activities for large groups of children. The games presented in this book should provide them with a wide-ranging selection of tag games from which to choose.

Although tag games are often associated with children, individuals of varying abilities, backgrounds, and ages will find this book useful. Few games are as fun and easy to understand as tag, and Win-Win Tag Games provides a complete, organized guide that attempts to bring these games to you in a manner that is simple to use. As much as children love to run and play games, youth and even adults can find the same pleasures in these activities, particularly if physical activity plays a role in their lives. You are never too old to have fun!
