Hi there. When I ordered the Solenoid, it came on time and was packaged well. I was using a warn type solenoid before. This one has bigger electrical posts. It's obviously shaped a little different than the normal warn type soenoid, but was an easy substitute, at a much better price. It seems to work well. I'll have to use it for some time, to see how well it holds up. The old solenoid used four bolts to hold it on. This one used two. But I turned it a little and it matched up two of the old bolt holes.

The solenoid worked only once. I needed it the day i installed it so i drilled the rivets out to see if i could repair it. and found that the electo magnets were mounted to close to the working parts of the switch.preventing the contacts from returning to the negative position. To fix the problem the manufacturer took a punch and bent the contact up causing a missalignment of the contacts. This missalignment makes the return spring move out of place and shorts the contacts melting the spring. THE FIX .drill out the rivets to open the relay. Go to the store and buy 2 new springs of corect size. also buy 7 machine screws and nuts to put it back together with.Hammer the bent negative contact flat again .Shim the electro magnets away from the switch parts.I used plastic washers that were 3/32s thick. Reassemble the solenoid with the machine screws.try it again .My winch has worked fine for a couple of weeks so far and don't expect any more problems with it.GOOD PRODUCT but BAD ENGINERING and REALY BAD ATTEMPT to FIX it at the FACTORY

Had to replace the Trim motor on my 115 hp outboard.
The new motor came with two lead wires and a wiring harness with "relays.
The OEM had three lead wires which connected to two solenoids
Never had a problem with the solenoid whereas the relays would fail constantly
because of moisture. eg. When you are a number of nautical miles from home
and your Outboard Motor begins to Trim-up out of the water, you are in trouble and
that is just one of the problems I experienced with the "relays".
Replacing the relays with the dual solenoid solved my problem.

Seems heavy duty and well made. Make sure your external switch is connected to a positive voltage (like in the diagrams on the product page). I tried this on a utility vehicle where the switch was pre-wired to connect to ground, and it doesn't work there, even if you reverse the battery connections. It did work when I jumped positive to the switch terminals, so the unit is good.

FYI, if you have a switch polarity goof-up like I did, the solenoid may click, but doesn't conduct.

This product allowed me to upgrade my standard hand controlled winch to a remote wireless control. Works flawlessly and takes the load off the in/out control contacts. Wiring is easy but use a backup wrench to tighten the lugs so you do not break them off. I placed it under a cover so the rain would not corrode it over time.
Good price and fast free supersaver shipping. Great job again Amazon!
