The spout area was completely leaking.
Seth R Callen
In fact, there was a hole in the teapot lip because the seam was not properly sealed and the lid's hinge was sprung and did not close all the way.
Caroline Stoebuck
I strongly advise anyone considering this purchase to definitely not buy this teapot.

This is a type of teapot that is favored by a few Chinese restaurants, and I did not realize how shiny a new one is. The area between the spout and the body is perforated, but the rest of it is easy to clean. The weld areas around the spout do gather a black patina.

It is surprising how hot the tea stays, despite the lack of insulation. On that note, I recommend a tea cozy to help protect your hands from accidentally brushing the body. The handle stays perfectly cool.

The first pot of tea tasted horrible, but the flavor improves greatly after a few uses.

I expected to have a nice little teapot just like the kind at the restaurants. What arrived looked nice until I looked inside. Whatever method they used to weld the handle onto this teapot had burnt through all of the stainless finish and caused a small spot of corrosion at the base of the handle. No prob right cause its just a teapot and who cares if there is a tiny rust spot in your tea? Well just for kicks I filled the pot up with cold water to see if it would "hold water". It did not. It had a slow and steady drip leak from the base of the handle that produced about one drop per second. I have returned this product, where refund was the only option, and have already purchased a different teapot by Frieling USA from Amazon.com. Yes it cost four times as much as the first one. Yes I am OK with that. I wanted a frigging cup of tea already, throw me a friggin bone here people! Now I am waiting for another teapot and have to wait up to four weeks for a refund.
You get what you pay for...
If you want an $11.00 teapot that doesn't work from day one then buy this product.
If you want a teapot that you can actually brew tea in and drink from then look somewhere else.
I strongly advise anyone considering this purchase to definitely not buy this teapot.
Don't do it, you will regret it, and you will have to live with the fact that I told you so.

not a good decision on my part the teapot as already developed a leak where the spout joins the body of the pot do not expect it to be in service much longer

The teapot is a bit flimsy and the hinge on the lid is pretty loose. I don't think it will last very long but for the price, it's okay. If you want quality and a long lasting product be prepared to spend more. If you want something inexpensive to use for maybe a couple of years, then this is fine.

Okay, if you are looking for a teapot that will last a lifetime and end up in your estate sale...forget it! I brew my green tea in a Joemo nine times a day but occasionally offer a cup to guests. It is kind of flimsy and looks like something Winston Smith would brew his tea in. Mine doesn't leak and never had any bad taste as some reviewers have complained about. It is not insulated so you have to drink it fast or use a tea light warmer like I use. There is no infuser but I use a steel ball infuser from the dollar store. It does the job and my guests haven't complained yet!

Gotta say, it's flimsy, thin, clunky, the lid hinge is loose and not on correctly and when closed is uneven. I'd been to a chinese restaurant the night before and remarked how I always wanted one of these tea pots for home since they keep very hot and are easy to clean. I even went and got some Oolong tea.

But, too bad, that's what I get for choosing a cheap option. I know lotsa people seem to like it but I'd suggest getting something with more heft and decent construction. Just sayin.

I bought this teapot to replace one that looked just like it that I had for a number of years, but it turned out not to be of the same quality. In fact, there was a hole in the teapot lip because the seam was not properly sealed and the lid's hinge was sprung and did not close all the way. I returned the defective product and I am looking locally for one that looks the same but of better quality.

The tea pot had a blister on the side and the lid looked like it was used for a hockey puck. Sent it back.
