a clever book: appeals to children & adults, July 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Wind (Creative Editions) (Hardcover)
This picture book is one in a series of stories about a mouse trapped in a book. In this book, the mouse nibbles on a corner of the page and eventually cuts out a square, exposing blustery conditions on the "other side" of the page. He cleverly finds away to use the paper and harness the wind by turning the square into a pinwheel that he attaches to his tail. He escapes from the book by riding the wind with his pinwheel.
After I read a pile of my children's books to my 4-year-old nephew over a weekend, he asked to keep this one. It was also a hit with my 2 1/2 year-old nephew, who sat with three different adults giving the story a slightly different interpretation each time.
Of the Mouse Books series, which includes "Plane" and "Boat," this is the most clever solution to escaping from the pages of the book.
