Great for beginning readers, my 7 year old daughter read the whole book in two days. May be a little easy for a 7 year old (2nd Grader), but a great story and the best part..she WANTED to read!!!!! No arguing about her required daily reading time!!!!

Of all the Wind Dancers books, this is her fave. She's read it a few times already, and she doesn't like to read all that much, so that's a big plus. We love all of them though.

My 6 year old daughter loves this book. She read it in one night, she just wouldn't put it down. It is a good transition from picture to chapter books because it is engageing and it has plenty of colorful pictures to look at. My daugher typically only reads books about dinosaurs, so it is great when I can find something different for her to read that she likes and doesn't require bribery to get her to read all of it. I only gave it 4 stars because I don't think that it is as well written as it could be. It doesn't always make sense to me. My daughter "gets" it though and she tells me that I am thinking way too much into it. I guess its not a book for "old" people.

My 7 year old daughter is a reluctant reader. She has to read an hour for school each night. We have tried several different kinds to find a Genre that will get her to WANT to read. I found these books at a local toy store with the toy horses. She is a girly girl and loves all kinds of animals and pretty things. This book is magical to her! She loves it and doesn't fight or cry when I tell her she needs to go read. They are fairly quick reads, about 2 hours to read them for her. She has only asked me to help her with two words so far in both books. And there are 12 that I found in the series. She has read 2 of them so far. Both about Kona. As an insentive I wouldn't let her open her toy horse until she read the first book. But after two chapters she was hooked on the story and the pictures! She actually thanked me for getting her these books as a gift! She also is in the middle of drawing all the horses in her sketch book. Wish I could share it here with you all.

This was a Christmas gift for my young niece who likes to read and loves horses! She was SO excited to receive the gift (it's great to see kids excited over a BOOK as a gift!)
