The Wind Eye,
By
This review is from: The Wind Eye (Paperback)
I read this book when I was a teen-ager, and it is one of those rare books that has stayed with me all my life. Three Children vacation with their father and stepmother in a dreary, remote part of Northumbria, and are brought up against a mystery that transports them through time. The Wind Eye, an ancient Boat they find in a shed, mysteriously transports them back to Lindesfarne Island in the 7th century to the time of St Cuthbert. There they relive history, meet the Vikings who sacked the Abby there, and ultimately meet St. Cuthbert himself. In the process they are all profoundly altered in their views of life and about themselves.
