I just talked to MSI Tech support. THey confirmed that the warranty WILL NOT BE VOIDED IF THE MEMORY IS UPGRADED! I just ordered a 1 gb memory from Kingston for only $21.99, including shipping and tax!
Just curious - did you install your memory yet in your MSI? If so, did you have trouble getting the back off? We have tried twice but having trouble because of the port and I sure don't want to break the back. Any help would be most appreciative.
There is a nice video tutorial at http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/how-to/msi-wind-ram.aspx?version=1&mode=video that sort of verifies what D. Dewire is saying... not too easy to get the case off... not too easy getting the case back on again. I have done other upgrades on laptops and using the tiny jeweler's screwdriver to pry open the latches seems to do the trick fairly well.
Oh, BTW, there is a little warning under the video that claims "Warning: MSI reps tell us that upgrading the RAM voids your warranty." So who do we believe?
