More Amazing Songs from Johnny Indovina and his new band,
This review is from: Wind Of Change (MP3 Download)
This CD is simply amazing from start to finish. If you have followed Johnny Indovina's work from the days of Human Drama through today, you will not be disappointed in Wind of Change. It is filled with compelling songs, honest and often gut wrenching lyrics and music that draws you in further and further with each song. This is the kind of disc you put in the player and listen to over and over. A beautiful, powerful CD.

The newest album from Johnny Indovina formally of Human Drama is strong and powerful with beautiful melodies....I love getting lost in the soundscapes while listening to Johnny's words. If you have heard Johnny Indovina's work before you know what I mean...if not, you need to listen.
I highly recommend it!

Johnny Indovina is without question one of the most overlooked artists of the last two decades. The new Sound of the Blue Heart album is terrific from start to finish - intense, melodic, wonderfully atmospheric. Hopefully it will lead to wider exposure for this incredible songwriter/vocalist/musician and his band.
Human Drama, with Johnny Indovina at the helm, released a long string of fantastic albums, all of which are worth discovering

Johnny Indovina, as others have mentioned, has been a large part of the music scene in LA for many many years, and Human Drama was a great group, but I would not compare SOTBH and especially Wind Of Change to anything he has done in the past. Wind Of Change, while containing Johnny's heart felt, open honest views of life, and his poetry, is definitely a wind of change musically. This album is very professional and polished though not overly so, as to be generic or dull like what most of America considers top 40 or pop. This is real music. Also where the last SOTBH album seemed to explore some world sounds and some downtown street vibe, the songs on Wind Of Change are more guitar-ish (60s/80s ish with nice Vibrato, Reverb twang sounds throughout) with a hint of stings and some great soul-ish back up vocals going on in some of it. None of that is over powering at all and blends seamlessly in behind Johnny. My favorite from Johnny so far, though I think each new album he produces tops the last so I am really looking forward to more from SOTBH.
Get this Album,it is not expensive at all and you will not regret the purchase. If you were not a fan of Human Drama or any of the Goth thing, dont worry. This album is not like that and you will like it I promise. Jayson

Near Masterpiece,
This review is from: Wind of Change (Audio CD)
Johnny Indovina has been an important (and often overlooked) part of the Los Angeles musical landscape since his previous band Human Drama landed here in 1985. 'Wind of Change' (the second release by his current band Sound of the Blue Heart), is a stunning example of introspective songwriting at it's very best.... What a refreshing thing, crack musicians performing songs by a guy who seems to have put genuine thought and emotion into the material that he has created.
I'd place this one right up there with my favorite Lou Reed, Nick Cave & Townes Van Zandt albums. Seriously. |
