Blown in the Riggin,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wind in the Rigging (Audio CD)
The artists perform timmelesssongs of the sea with such simple clearity that one can almost feel the presence of the salt air and expereence the power and beauty of being far out to sea. Especially moving is their rendering of the mariners hymn " Eternal Father Strong to Save."

Long Time Favorite CD,

This review is from: Wind in the Rigging (Audio CD)
When I first heard this recording as a child, it was not long after the original release in 1988, and the album quickly became a family favorite. Now, as an adult, I still find it to be my all-time favorite recording of traditional music - and one of my favorite albums of any musical genre. The arrangements are flawless and beautiful, the playing soulful and skilled. I could gush for hours about this CD, but it's just easier to listen for yourself. I love it, and if you have any fondness for instrumental and/or traditional music, you will too. Even though I've been listening to this album for over a decade and a half, it still tugs at my heartstrings and brings a smile to my face every single time I listen to it.

I heard this CD over a decade ago and I continue to seek it out as a hallmark of maritime heritage. The instrumental renditions can be haunting, moving and uplifting....if you're a sailor or a lover of the sea, this album will become one of your favorites whenever your thoughts range over the waters. bon voyage
