5.0 out of 5 stars I wish someone would reissue this book!
Like the other reader who commented, my copy is worn out andhas more tape than glue.... This was one the best adventure romance books that I read and I have to say it was like watching a movie. In fact, when A&E recently ran Hornblower, I thought of The Wind and the Sea and pulled out my tattered copy to read again. I'm not a fan of pirate novels, but this one...

2.0 out of 5 stars cheese, with a little ham
I have only recently discovered Marsha Canham, and was drawn to yet another of her books with the expectation of her delightful and witty dialogue and surprising and unexpected plot twists. The Wind and the Sea has its moments, but just didn't do it for me. Yes, there is romance and espionage - certainly lots of action. But the romance was infiltrated by very disturbing...

In fact, when A&E recently ran Hornblower, I thought of The Wind and the Sea and pulled out my tattered copy to read again. I'm not a fan of pirate novels, but this one and Ms Canham's other seafaring adventure, Across A Moonlit Sea, are two of the very best IMO.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pirate wench clashes with an aristocratic navy lieutenant., April 5, 1999

This review is from: The Wind & the Sea (Mass Market Paperback)
The Wind and the Sea, Marsha Canham's best book, is unequaled when it comes to seafaring, swashbuckling, sizzling romance. Premier characterization, superb plotting grab the reader from the onset and refuse to let go. Courtney, daughter of a pirate, and Adrian Ballantine, honor bound navy man, fight and love from beginning to end.

I wish someone would reprint this. My copy is old and worn and falling apart but it is one of the best seafaring adventure romances I have ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "6" on my own 5 point Scale, May 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wind & the Sea (Mass Market Paperback)
What a wonderful read - Ms. Canham is one of my favorite authors but this is the ONLY book in my personal list of over 400 books that exceeded my 5 point rating. The plot builds and builds, and the characterizations are superb, making the reader like or dislike an individual intensely. It is a shame that the book is so hard to locate and I agree with other reviewers that a re-issue is required.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Canham book!, April 3, 2011

I understand this was an older book recently issued as an e-book. It was worth the purchase. If you're a historical romance fan, you're sure to like this one. Pirates and ships and a spunky little heroine... great read!

There isn't really anything more to add: an interesting plot that offers romance as well as suspense, an unexpected twist towards the end, a controversial hero who mutates during the story into an adorable man and a female main character that is strong and literally in a position to meet the hero on equal terms. Ah, and don't forget about the passion, there's lots of it!

Absolutely rcommendable!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ending?, November 4, 2007

I loved this book! Up until the ending that is. It was just so abrupt! I turned the page looking for more and was disappointed. I just didn't feel like the characters' issues were resolved fully. Otherwise very good story that kept me reading late into the night.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lusty, satisfying adventure, April 21, 2011

I came across Marsha Canham recently via KindleBoards and was very interested in what she had to say about her experiences as a successful romance writer and the changes in the industry. I downloaded "The Wind and The Sea" hoping for a satisfying reading experience. I wasn't disappointed. It had the elements I used to love in romances that are nowadays so often missing--sweeping adventure, conflicted characters, villians, and, of course, True Love. I'm grateful that ebooks are making the "old" books fresh and giving us infinite reading choices.

I thought my family was going to disown me before I could get this book finnished. I just could not put it down. My dad found himself in the same situation mom felt neglected. Oh, but such a great story and so much going on with all the characters. It was worth being in the dog house. I can't wait to read another book from Marsha.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars for a really good book, November 8, 2011

I was looking for a break in my usual PNR reading and this caught my eye. Other reviews sounded really good so I took a chance & am really glad I did.
Characters were amazing & the story was fantastic. I loved the twists & turns and how the book kept me guessing. Very entertaining with the constance conflicts between love, honor, and loyalty. Maybe I need to go back to historicals more often, I really enjoyed this book.
Totally recommended!
