The English story of life among the small animals on the riverbank has been recreated with loveable characters and lots of humor and excitement. Mr. Toad is a wealthy, devil-may-care madcap who buys a motor car, goes to jail, and escapes dressed a girl! This is a funny movie that can be enjoyed by adults as well as children. A classic!

Disney delivers again with this fine piece of distinguished animation. Narrated by Basil Rathbone himself, the viewer gets to see the world through a wealthy, mad Toad. Toad goes from fad to fad, spending all of his money recklessly and upsetting his good friends; especially the badger who happens to be his accountant. Toad's antics finally go too far when he makes a deal with some crooked weasels, but - like in all Disney movies - everything works out all right.

I used to watch this all of the time growing up. I loved it. Now, years later, I understand it much better than I used to. For an animated film, Basil tosses some big vocabulary words into the mix.

This short 34 minute film remains as fun to watch today as it was when I was a kid. Almost every character speaks with an English or Scottish accent, with the notable exception of the ultra-mean and hilarious (I thought) prosecutor.

Everyone treats the bartender Mr. Winky like a great worthy man of impeccable character. I don't think bartenders were ever anything of the sort, but it makes me wonder if they were respected back then a little more than they are now.

I have no idea what the Wind in the Willows book is like, but I doubt it's anything like this. Disney doesn't seem to mind taking liberties in their film adaptations of books. Still, they do a good job, and since you know the film is different from the book, reading the book won't seem superfluous. I think Wind in the Willows would make for an interesting read.

Watch out world toad's got a new mania and it's motorcars! This crazy driver will do anything to get his hands on a motorcar. You should do the same to own this video!

I like it. J Thadious Toad loves adventure. He is in a rush to
go "nowhere in particular". Then he sees a motorcar, when cars were something new. He gets falsely accused of stealing the car.
It's an interesting animated show. It has good dialog. It's fun.

A cute animated Disney classic. Mr. Toad is obsessed with owning things. His new obsession with a motor car gets him thrown into jail. His talking horse dresses up like a woman and visits him in jail. He escapes in a dress and hunts for the deed to Toad Hall to prove his innocence with his animated animal friends. Pure fun and plenty of laughter.
