This is very nice (and shiny) fan. It is very sturdy and so far our toddler hasn't been able to knock it over. I don't think the description states this, but the fan speed is adjusted at the rear of the fan housing. The whole end of the housing rotates to select the 3 speeds. Metal blade fans tend to make more noise than some plastic blade models. It isn't loud, but you know it's running. I've given up on the cheap plastic fans that tip over easily, this one is very stable.

This fan is stylish and definitely shiny, but it was a pain to assemble. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult, but nothing on mine seemed to line up quite right and once I got it together to rattled and shook to the point that it was unusable no matter how tight I got everything. I was about to return it when a friend pointed out that one of the pins on the back grill was not lined up quite right so I took it apart and after some struggle, got it to pop into place. Then I put it all back together. There's a small screw on the front grill (that is never even mentioned in the directions!) that I imagine is supposed to keep everything from rattling. After being taken in and out three times it stripped to the point of being unusable. After investing something like 2 hours in assembling and disassembling and reassembling and trouble-shooting this fan, I wasn't about to be detered. I got some floral wire and fed it through the holes and twisted it off nice and tight. Now it works perfect with no unnecessary noise. I'm not sure it was really worth all the trouble, but it seems to be of decent quality and puts out a good breeze. Just keep a cleaning cloth nearby cause this shiny finish is finger print central!

It is a pretty good fan, has solid feel.
I wish it was quieter on lowest setting. I am not sure if noise is due to blade design (blade design looks too simple, but I am no expert ), perhaps it could just spin slower on lowest setting. Switch in the back looks stylish, but I have to get up to reach it (and catch it when fan is oscillating).
