Nice, but..., January 30, 2007
When I first got this humidifier I was *very* happy with it. It's easy to set up and run, it's virtually silent, it has good features (and a remote!) and it does the job well. It still does, BUT after a while I noticed a white film on surfaces in the room being humidified. According to Windchaser, that's from minerals in the water. They suggest using distilled water. That is certainly reasonable, but a gallon or more of distilled water a day would add up in $$$. I bought a filter for the spigot I fill the reservoir from and it did help, but the white film still appears. It's not that difficult to wipe off, but I'm not comfortable with it. I'm going back to my previous, noisy humidifier. If you have a water softener on your water line, though, this would probably be an excellent room humidifier.

Cheap plastic construction obscured by flashy electronics, March 11, 2008
I used this humidifier for less than a week before the cheap plastic tank came apart in my hands. The handle is just glued on and cannot support the weight of the tank with water in it. Also the tank drips water everywhere when removed from the base, making it unsuitable for bedroom use.
The electronics are pretty but mostly cause the thing to turn on and off incessantly. Also they are very bright, and that keeps me awake despite the machine being quiet to run.
I'm disappointed in this product, but have yet to find a well-made humidifier anywhere.
