5.0 out of 5 stars A life saver.
I actually bought two of these fans last summer to use by our backyard pool, and have to say that it is a must have equipment on hot summer days. With temperatures often hovering between 105 and 115 degrees during the dry summer months in Vegas, it's too hot to stay out even with a swimming pool; however, with two of these fans going, it definately makes it bearable...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice wet fan, but unreliable
I actually bought this from a B&M that has a one year return policy. Good thing, because my first two units only lasted about six weeks each. The motor in the first unit died. The water line in the second unit cracked.

I am, however, getting a third one, as I don't mind continually replacing the fan because it is cheap and fulfills my needs. One thing it...

The fans are durable. Both were left outside throughout the winter, exposed to record rain, sun and got knocked down a few times, but when plugged in again, worked as usual. Highly recommended.

One thing it is NOT is a light misting humidifier you'll find at fine resorts. I looked into that option, and those things cost a lot of money as a high pressure pump is required.

Much of the mist does not evaporate before or as it hits the ground. This will get the ground and objects in front of it damp. If you're farther away, you'll get the finer mist. But if it's 90 degrees and I'm outside, I don't really mind getting a little damp - I'd sweat at least that much anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I expected, September 19, 2005
This review is from: WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan (Kitchen)
I experienced the Windchaser misting fan at a local pool club before I bought it and decided it would be an easy to use, affordable option to cool my patio. This is a small patio (maybe 11' X 16') sheltered by a fence and the side of my house, but with a cement floor which helps to trap heat.

The Windchaser distributes the mist evenly. As the fan oscillates you are touched by the cooling water. After a period of time the air in the whole area is cooled. The closer you are to the fan more mist will cover you; even wet you.

An other review complained about large drops of mist. Yeah, this does not produce a blanket of fog, nor is it as nifty as those misting systems used in the Southwest. But you get what you pay for. The Windchaser performed exactly as I expected and I am very happy with it.

I would prefer a stronger fan to push the spray a little farther especially when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. But when that happens I position the fan to blow with the wind -- what a concept.

If your expectations are reasonable (this is a FAN pushing spray from a garden hose), then you won't be disapointed. If you're looking for a Vegas style misting system keep looking.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Concept, Poor Execution, July 19, 2004

I looked at this and thought "What a great idea!". I ordered it, got it, put it together, turned it on, and realized that what I had was a very wet fan or a very bad lawn sprinkler. Bottom line - your municipal water pressure will not work to atomize the water enough so it is mostly evaporated by the time it hits you. You will get soaked if you stand too close, and the cooling is ineffective if you stand too far away. I can see you liking this if you want to cool the kids down while they play outside (and don't care about them getting wet) or if you are working on outdoor projects(and don't care about you getting wet). But for an evening of sitting around the patio with friends - it just isn't effective, and is just annoying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Long ship time not worth the wait, July 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan (Kitchen)
After waiting for over a month to receive the fan, found it had been repackaged and was missing parts (most likely the reason it was returned). Package came unsealed, obviously it had been previously opened and repackaged. Had to rig a screw to hold the fan to the base. Once connected, works fine, though drips constantly, not sure why yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing on a hot day, July 2, 2007

This review is from: WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan (Kitchen)
I originally bought this misting fan a few years ago when I was having surgery in July and knew I wouldn't be able to go in our pool for a while. I wasn't looking forward to sitting outside sweltering watching everyone else swim, so I could at least sit in the mist and keep cool. Worked like charm.

Last summer hired a contractor to do some outdoor projects and I set this fan up for them, as it was an extended heat spell. The guys loved it.

How wet you get when sitting in front of it depends on how close you sit and how high you have the fan set for. It can vary from barely noticeable to pretty wet. I would advise not setting it up right next to a table with paper products on it. They will get soaked as time goes by.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor BBQ for 80 on 95 degree day, September 20, 2004

This review is from: WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan (Kitchen)
I hosted an outdoor BBQ for 80+ people on a 95 degree day. I ordered this fan 2 days prior for overnight del'y. It arrived on time and saved the day. The caterers said the fan was a lifesaver for them and it was very refreshing for the guests as well. Very easy to assemble.

I bought the fan and had some reservations due to some sketchy reviews. But this product is wonderful and now many of my neighbors and family ask where I bought this from. I have an outdoor double tiered deck that leads to a pool. While the kids are cool on the upper deck from the pool, us lower deck folk have a temperature of about 10 degrees less plus the benefit of a cool fan running. This product is exactly what I was looking for and is great.

I orginally bought this fan/mister to help deter the mosquitos! That did'nt work but it sure is nice to have in the heat. My only complaints are that the "low" setting is what I would consider "high" because you can set the fan 15' away and it's almost too much. The other complaint, the actual fan head does not adjust easily. I would really like to have the fan stand taller and the head more adjustable (up and down). Right now you are cooled from the waist down. I actually don't use the mister too much. It does not seem to blow far enough to cover your entire body if you're laying down on a chaise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for hot dry climates!, June 18, 2004

This is a terrific product! Living in the Sacramento area, we have many 90 degree days in the summer. With this fan and sitting in the shade you can stay outside forever. The fan is a durable plastic and very sturdy so I don't worry about it when the winds start blowing. It has three speeds and you can operate it as a regular fan or as a mister or both. It swivels or you can make it stationary. My fan came quickly and was very easy to assemble. It is also very easy to unattach the garden hose if you need it for watering the plants, too. I wish I would have bought this product years ago - I would have spent many more days outside!
