4.0 out of 5 stars It's small, but it works.
This is a small unit that works in smaller spaces. I have found that large ionic purifiers tend to make the house smell like a swimming pool. This one puts out the clean smell, but it is not overpowering. The unit plugs into the wall (which covers up both outlets), and has a night light that stays on. I like the night light, and it doesn't bug me that it covers up...

3.0 out of 5 stars It does work...
Contrary to what others have said about this product, it does work. I had it in my bathroom for a week and took the metal strips out and they were covered in a black gook. These work just like the Ionic Breeze purifiers and they even smell the same (like static electricity). It will not purify a very big space, so if you are hoping to use it in a real room, don't...

This one puts out the clean smell, but it is not overpowering. The unit plugs into the wall (which covers up both outlets), and has a night light that stays on. I like the night light, and it doesn't bug me that it covers up both outlets - it's not hard to unplug. It's hard to say yet how well it removes particles from the air, but from the amount of dust I found on my coffee table today, I'd say it's working. I really like them. I have two and probably will purchase a couple more.

Contrary to what others have said about this product, it does work. I had it in my bathroom for a week and took the metal strips out and they were covered in a black gook. These work just like the Ionic Breeze purifiers and they even smell the same (like static electricity). It will not purify a very big space, so if you are hoping to use it in a real room, don't bother. But, considering the Ionic Breeze sells for 100's of dollars and this was free with the purchase of a dehumidifier, I'm happy with it.

On the down side, the light is kind of annoying... you can't turn it off. I'm also not a big fan of static electricity smell, but if you like ionic purifiers, then that probably doesn't bother you (if you don't know what I am talking about, smell you TV screen while it is on - that is what it smells like only a lot stronger).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for removing odors...highly recommend!, January 17, 2005
This review is from: Windchaser IF-1 Plug-N-Fresh Ionic Air Purifier with Light (Kitchen)
This item is great for removing kitchen odors. It doesn't matter what I cook or fry this takes out all of the cooking odors and leaves my kitchen smelling fresh. I was so pleased with the results that I bought two more for both of my bathrooms. These are only for small areas such as a kitchen, bathroom or motorhome. I wish I could put one in my walk-in closet, but it doesn't have an electrical outlet.

It really leaves a room fresh and clean smelling. I highly recommend.

We've owned two of these for about a year, and they both work perfectly. One is in a small utility room and contends with the cat's litter box. The room is definitely much fresher using this unit. We keep the other in the living room and don't notice much difference one way or the other. These are low-capacity units, not meant for large rooms. They cover both outlets of a two-outlet plug, so beware of this. And, as others have noted, the nightlight can't be turned off separately. This doesn't bother us since we put the units where we had nighlights previously. Overall, great value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars worked good for a while, but output dropped, January 8, 2007

Now that I have had them for a year, the output has dwindled to almost nothing, even if I clean them. I can't find an ionizer that works for longer than about a year. I think the problem is the corona wires need to be cleaned as well, but they cannot be reached or removed.

They did work good for about 6 months. (I bought 6 of them and they are all the same.)

Unit is large, blocks both outlets. Amber LED nightlight is not very bright compared to white LED nightlights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to tell if it works/works better in small space, December 19, 2005

This review is from: Windchaser IF-1 Plug-N-Fresh Ionic Air Purifier with Light (Kitchen)
I bought four of these ionic air purifiers due to the above average reviews of them. So far I cannot really tell how well they are working. In the first month, they generates some really funny smell (like old burning oil) probably due to the ozone it emitted. Had to unplug some of them due to strong smell. They seem to work better after a while, especially in small bathrooms and in the kitchen. Better not to put them close to where people often stay (like living room). Do not believe the ozone is good for you. Keep cleaning the metal strips, they are not real dirty but seem to work better if you clean them often. Like the fact that an extra strip comes with each air ionizer. Do believe if you want to clean up a large area, you may be better off to get an Oreck air cleaner or a Honeywell hepa air cleaner. Sears has a plasma air cleaner (with both ion and cation) that seems to smell much better but is very expensive.

3.0 out of 5 stars It helps, August 17, 2010
This review is from: Windchaser IF-1 Plug-N-Fresh Ionic Air Purifier with Light (Kitchen)
It works good enough for a SMALL space, my bedroom is small, but this unit does almost nothing for a large room, what it does seem to do is reduce dust on surfaces, I do not have to dust as often and I credit this unit, I also bought it to reduce airborne bacteria and I am hoping that it gives me a little protection in flu season, (wishful thinking). I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars plug in purifier, December 11, 2009

I use this in a very small bathroom with no window for ventilation. This works very well in this space. Also put one near my dog's bed and it helps with the doggy odor. Just don't expect it to work in large areas since that's not what it's meant for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does nothing to the air - just makes the wall dirty, August 23, 2007

As I've put in the title, this thing does nothing to the air dust, but makes the wall around itself dirty. Nothing more to say - now I have 4 of them lying in the shelf - waist of money.

This little unit took care of the dog odors on our back sun porch and another works quite well near the cat box. There is a little ozone smell, but not bothersome and much better than the alternative dog and cat smells. I may want to order a couple more for the bathrooms.
