2.0 out of 5 stars Odd collection
I love Windham Hill collections. They have always been great. However, this collection is odd. It's not the soothing, melodic music I am accustomed to. I was pretty disappointed, to be honest. Who would imagine saying that about Windham Hill?

2.0 out of 5 stars A MIXED BAG THAT DOESN'T WORK, November 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Windham Hill Classics: Passages (Audio CD)
I love most Windham Hill collections and therefore when I saw this " Classics " series selling so inexpensively from several Amazon Marketplace sellers, I didn't hesitate to snap them up. I now wish I had hesitated. . . This particular recording by several different Windham Hill artists is a disappointment. It is a mixed bag of pieces that don't work well together at all. Particularly jarring are track 4 by Ravi Shankar, 3 minutes of loud moaning-prayer? sounds with inferior Indian type musical accompaniment. This is followed by track 5 a crashing loud instrumental with jarring percussion & no detectable melody, by John Tesh. Track # 8 is a juvenile sounding effort by a group called Turtle Island String Quartet. It sounds like the local Jr High band's Spring concert: mediocre & overly enthusiastic. Besides, who ever heard of them? They certainly don't belong to the Windham HIll Classic artists. The old saying " You get what you pay for " certainly applies here. I paid little & got what I deserved. Into the yard sale bin you get!
