This is a very cheaply made bar. Once I got it set and in place, it seems okay. I bought three to really brace a window with an air conditioner in it good and tight. The first bar was difficult to twist and find a spot where it really locked down. But after trial and error, I found the "sweet spot." The second bar set up without incident. The third bar made a loud click and won't lock. The locking mechanism inside is made of plastic and stripped. Maybe I'll just drill a hole in it and put a screw through it. Understand that I didn't go "Gorilla" with it and force things. It just broke. It's difficult to recommend these, but then 2 of the 3 DO work..........

I read the only other review on this product, so I was forewarned, but the product was worse than I expected as far as it holding. To be candid, it is a POS. The only cure for it is to drill a hole and use a nail to hold it in place. What you have to do is drill a hole in the outer tube, then put the bar where you want it in the window, extend it as tightly as possible, and, using a nail or something else with a point, mark the inner tube to drill a matching hole in. When you drill the second hole, offset it a hair or two so that the extension length will be that one hair longer than what you marked so that it will be tight when you put the nail in; in other words, offset it just that one hair so that it will be difficult to push the nail in.
