The X Window System User's Guide orients the new user to window system concepts and provides detailed tutorials for many client programs, including the xterm terminal emulator and window managers. The book is a good introduction to X Windows for users. It only touches on configuration. If you don't have an X Windows Administrator to go to you are better off buying an administrator's guide instead.
