The CD-ROM audio recordings for this textbook consist of a series of thematic dialogues and monologues correlated with the topics of the units in the textbook and listening tasks in the textbook. Students listen to the dialogue or monologue and answer the questions in the textbook or listen and repeat the parts of the dialogue. Each unit is called a "theme" or "tema". After each "tema" there is a brief musical phrase to help lab technicians break up the lessons into digitized sound files without having to know Russian. The actors reading the texts are native speakers and they perform the texts with clear, crisp articulation at a reasonable pace. The topics are well selected to provide a full range of situations intermediate-level students are likely to encounter on a visit to a Russian city.
