I had only a vague idea of what to expect from the Windowlicker video when I saw the calendar for it a few weeks ago. It's even stranger in motion.

Richard D James is everywhere (except for a couple of homies) -- the Aphex Pimp, the Aphex "Hoes", the Aphex Limo, the Aphex Umbrella, et cetera. Richard and his beautiful cleavage grace the cover, enough to either make someone laugh really hard, blush, or even question their own sexuality in some weird twist of events within their mind (I shall say no more) -- I don't know whether to be disappointed that there is no nudity or if I should be thankful there isn't any.

It's impossible to make any logical sense out of this video. The music is just as abstract and multidimensional as the accompanying video. It has a little hint of porn-music style, along with a subtle clue of avant-garde swirled with a topping of improvisation; a side order of light funk and calm hip-hop is also included in various segments of the music video.

Don't attempt one of those "analyzation of artistic/symbolic/sociological" bits, either. While Richard's music is definately artsy, most of his videos--this especially--serve as a medium of having fun for ten minutes without moving. And, in my opinion, this video is more fun than a barrell full of monkeys... or a barrel full of monkeys wearing Richard D James plaster-cast masks on their faces.

Richard is in my opinion one of the greatest artists alive. The same can be said about Chris Cunningham. When two such people meet, the results are not always what you would expect, but in this case, I have to admit the results are superb. This video and it music are so beautifully weird that it is almost as if they are alien. Chris and Richard, and others like the Boards of Canada and Autechre, are finding and exploring strange and fascinating new worlds for us, which we can briefly glimpse through their art. I feel privileged to live in a time when such art is being produced.

THIS VIDEO FREAKED ME OUT! A MASTERPIECE BEAUTIFULLY DIRECTED BY CHRIS CUNNINGHAM WHO DID VIDEOS FOR MADONNA AND LEFTFIELD. ALL THE LADIES' BODIES ARE SEXY BUT THOSE FACES---YOWCH! ALL DIGITALIZED FACES OF RICHARD JAMES A.K.A. APHEX TWIN. THIS IS MY FAVORITE VIDEO OF THE DECADE-VERY FUNNY AND VERY ORIGINAL (...)I'M GLAD I DON'T HAVE MTV ANYMORE. THEY DON'T PLAY TECHNO VIDEOS AND DEFINITELY NOT THIS CLASSIC DUE TO SCENES OF SEXUALITY AND THE 1ST 4 MINUTES OF VERY DIRTY LANGUAGE (...). YOU MAY THINK IT'S A RAP VIDEO BUT AFTER 4 MINS, THE VIDEO GOES 360 DEGREES AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!

Well, to put it bluntly, if you miss buying this, you miss out on one of the most twisted and satiracal 'music videos' of all time. No, you will never catch this video on MTV. This video, like "Come To Daddy", blends the madness/genius of Richard D James with frightening digital effects to produce a short film that made me search through my food for hallucinagens. I reccomend that, even if you don't have the money for it, to buy this piece RIGHT NOW!

I was shocked at Aphex Twin's humor in this one... he nailed the hip-hop video genre dead-on with the opening few minutes, and his dancing is insane. Seeing Richard move just like Michael Jackson and make lewd gestures with the unbrella had me laughing out loud, which is hard to do. so kudos.

Aphex Twin has gone and done it again. Window Licker is the new track, and it's a classic. But it's not pretty: I don't know how he manages to induce the *entire* sensation of having taking far too much of exactly the wrong sort of drugs, but it's all there from the initial queaziness through to psychic aneurism. Very, very peculiar indeed.

Nowhere near as peculiar as the video, though. Remember Come To Daddy? Hah. Just a dry run. Window Licker takes the Twin and his director pal Chris Cunningham (Come To Daddy, and soon to do Neuromancer. Yum.) to LA, where they proceed to have fun with Busby Berkeley, teeth, rubber masks (of course), black people with very bad hair, stretch limos and -- most importantly -- your head.

Watch out for *the* fashion accessory of '99 - the Aphex Logo Umbrella - a champagne bottle, and Richard D James having sex with himself (it's a threesome) in the back of a car. You may have to wait for some time before it appears on your local station, though: the video starts with a sustained blast of swearing that would make Tarantino blush.

Everyone's seen WL. It's just unavoidable. But the opening scene, no matter how many times you watch this, which is definitely a parody of modern rap videos, is always a laugh. Not as creative as CTD video, but this is a great one in and of itself.

Richard's dancing is fantastic, too!

Awesome piece, just dont get too critical of the video...I think its classic and hilarious. Enjoy the music and savor the vid for what it is...delicious eyecandy

This video is a short movie which is good news. I'm still not bored with it.

Again Richard goes way out but this time its in a joking sense. Funny acting and incredible effects.
