beat driven coil,

this is probably the only place youll be able to get two of coil's best works, as Love's Secret Domain has been out of print for 8 years now... this is probably the best collection of remixes ive ever heard of any songs. two of the best are actually done by jack dangers of meat beat manifesto. very good stuff. if youre a coil fan at all, this should be number one on your list of their cds to own.

Buy it only if you don't have Loves Secret Domain,

Unless you really like these two songs, my favorite track is "As Pure As?", a really nice mix of "The Snow".

A Good remix CD?,

Hard to believe I know. But if anybody could do it it would be Coil. I am not saying that all remix CD's are bad, but usually they get relatively stale fast. That is unless each song stands on its own merits. This is the case with the Windowpane/The Snow cdep. Each song takes a different thread of the original, and from that point they go into their own directions. Myfavorite mix is "Answers come in Dreams". I would recommend anyone who doesn't have Love Secret Domain to buy this album, as this will be your only ooprtunity at this point to get any of the original tracks. Anyone who likes the psuudo-nondancable-dancemusic that only Coil can create should also buy this disc.

I have to clarify that I only have the Snow EP, and consequently have not heard the Windowpane re-mixes. That said, this is pretty pathetic coming from a group as interesting as Coil. I have not heard tons of Coil but most of what I have heard was far more interesting than this. The actual track "The Snow" is a nice one, but basically this is all just sounds typical ambient-dance music with relatively uninteresting sounds and generic beats. A couple of interesting samples, I guess, but that's not enough. It's plenty listenable, but nothing special.
