Best Book on Microsoft Win2K Clusters.,
This review is from: Windows 2000 Clustering and Load Balancing Handbook (Paperback)
I have bought several books on MS Clusters, what a waste of $$$ they were filled with theory, theory, theory , theory on admin, install and config of Ms Sql, MS Exchange. One book had one page, that's right, one page on installing Exchange on a MS Cluster. Bottom line you can get all the theory on any website including Microsoft, but when you have 30K worth of servers being delivered and you need to build your cluster, the last thing you want is more theory. This book that will show you step by step how to admin, config, install a MS Cluster with Sql, Exchange, etc.. THIS BOOK IS IT .. the author does an EXCELLENT job, not only with his easy to understand writing style, but with all the If you need to build, admin, config, a cluster then this is

This is a great book for anyone trying to implement any sort of clustering or load balancing on Windows 2000. There is a lot of confusion as to what's needed for clustering SQL server and how to do it.This book provides in-depth information and step-by-step instructions on what hardware you need, how it should be configured, how to install MSCS, how to cluster your SQL servers, and how to load balance your web servers (as well as Exchange). Instructions didn't skip through steps and screen shots were accurate! Thanks Joseph Lamb! Definitely made getting our SQL clustered and web servers load balanced properly much easier.

If you've never clustered servers, this is a start. If you expect to learn in depth about geographically dispersed clusters, quorum recovery, or other such advanced topics, you won't find it here. Lot's of good ol' boy discussion, but found myself searching for the beef.Microsoft has a SQL cluster guide on their site, and NetApp has a whitepaper on SQL clustering using their storage which is VERY descriptive. Both are free and would give you a condensed, concise version of getting started without the fluff.
