Amazon.com Review

One of the most popular books in the best-selling Dummies line, Windows 95 for Dummies, Second Edition, introduces rank neophytes to personal computing via Windows 95. The book opens with explanations of the most basic computing conventions: how to use the mouse, what the Shift key does, and why you shouldn't leave floppy disks in the sun. It also explains the concept of computer files and tells the reader in a light but competent tone what it means to open, close, move, and delete files. Then, Windows 95 for Dummies gets into the specifics of Windows 95. The book explains the Start button, the Taskbar, the Desktop, and the most important Windows 95 icons. All Windows 95 accessories get full treatment--there's even an introduction to Web surfing with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Finally, it wraps up with lots of troubleshooting help and some hints on making Windows 95 work faster. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This book is helpful yet very humorous. You can find just about anything that you need to know without having to read the whole book or chapter. Windows 95 for Dummies is very easy to understand, in plain old english and not computer jargon. It answers most questions and easy to follow also. Good for us simple folks. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars only the terminally computer illiterate should get this, October 18, 1995
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows.. 95 For Dummies.. (Paperback)
The VAST majority of information found in this book is stuff that the semi-knowledgable Win3.1 user will be able to figure out on his/her own in just a few hours. Good for folks who just bought a computer, pre-loaded with Win95; but for anyone else, don't waste your money.
