A comprehensive look at the Windows CE 2.0 user environment,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows CE 2 for Dummies (Paperback)
This book covers nearly every aspect of using the Windows CE operating system for handheld and palmtop PCs (most of the focus is on the former since WinCE palmtops are relatively new to the market). Each of the standard applications is described in its own chapter. Screen shots are plentiful. If you're going to buy just one book about using Windows CE, this would be a great choice.I was able to find almost all the answers to my questions about WinCE in this book. I was left wondering about only the most technical of issues (such as distributing applications and programs between the on-board RAM and Compact Flash RAM, and the details of the POP protocol interaction between the Inbox application and the mail server). The chapters on connecting the WinCE system to the desktop system via Windows CE Services and on accessing the Internet were particularly useful. Using Windows CE Services to synchronize the WinCE application data with MS Office on the desktop is a new process for those of us who have used only desktop systems up to this point. This book's explanation of the process is clear, concise, and well-illustrated with sample screen shots. The chapters covering each application were very thorough. (Each of these apps has its own chapter: Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket PowerPoint, Windows CE Explorer, Pocket Internet Explorer, Inbox.) I highly recommend this book to anyone who intends to use Windows CE as a personal information manager or for Internet access. Another great book in the Dummies series!

Bringing the WINDOWS WORLD to the PALMTOPS is a critical topic ... but it is HERE.. WIndows CE-2. I've been using windows CE 2 for couple of months and well .. I guess it's the BEST OS for the HANDHELD PCs. New product ? Well it is ... but with Windows CE 2 for DUMMIES, you'll become a professional Windows CE user in hours. Detailed and visual examples on how to do most of the common task in Windows CE. Well if you're new to Win CE, this book is a must. Remember, Windows CE is not a new OS, if you got this BOOK.
