Amazing Information about SM,
This review is from: Windows 2000 Enterprise Storage Solutions (The Mark Minasi Windows 2000 Series) (Paperback)
these two excellent writers are not biased at all given the fact that they work for a manufacturer. chapter after chapter you can feel the amount of dedication and knowledge that has been put into the writting of this book. All forms of storage management are addressed - from small business to isp cenarios. the chapters about exhange and sql backup/recovery are really well written, as well as the scsi chapter. mark minasi choose the perfect writers that are straight to the point, just like him i guess :)

A Great Enterprise Storage Reference,
By Keith Martin (Long Beach, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Windows 2000 Enterprise Storage Solutions (The Mark Minasi Windows 2000 Series) (Paperback)
I normally don't write reviews but fealt compelled after seeing someone only give this book 2 stars. Personally, I love this book. While it could have spent hundreds of pages on SAN and NAS concepts, I did not think that the authors wanted to, nor did I buy the book to learn about SAN and NAS exclusively. I thought that the book delivered on its promise, which was to clearly identify Microsoft network storage. The book has a "Gotchas" chapter that shows many of the Microsoft backup and recovery pitfalls, and I found the Exchange and SQL backup and recovery chapters very useful is well. This is a great book for anyone that is new to storage management, or has been managing enterprise backup and recovery for some time. For me, learning about a single Windows 2000 gotcha that could save me in a disaster recovery scenario is worth the price of the book, let alone the hundreds of gotchas presented.

Not much info about Enterprise Storage,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows 2000 Enterprise Storage Solutions (The Mark Minasi Windows 2000 Series) (Paperback)
If you want basic info about I/O technology, backups and restores or removable storage, this book is an easy read. However, the two chapters that come closest to the Enterprise Storage topic were basically written by two hardware vendors and are not very useful. I bought the book based on it's title and association with Mark Minasi but wouldn't recommend it to others.
