Penned by Dr. Karanjit S. Siyan (one of the original architects of the TCP/IP protocol), Windows NT TCP/IP covers each TCP/IP networking base while not shying away from detail. These TCP/IP-related topics--as well as the Windows NT architecture itself--are covered quite granularly. Also handy is the market and historical context Dr. Siyan provides for various protocols and technologies, which helps to explain the success of a relative antique like NetBEUI. Windows NT TCP/IP holds the hallmark of any reference book worth its salt; the volume is jam-packed with useful diagrams, charts, tables, and specific commands. Another winner from New Riders, Windows NT TCP/IP offers something for everyone interested in Windows NT networking. --Sarah L. Roberts-Witt

Written for the Senior Systems Administrator..great choice!,

This review is from: Windows NT TCP/IP (Paperback)
If you want to go deep into Windows NT and TCP/IP this is the book that will take you there. I found it goes far beyond the basics of what most books cover. As an MCSE I can tell you that if you want to be an "NT GOD" then read this book! It covers all the important aspects of using TCP/IP in a LAN/WAN environment, but also includes GREAT in depth topics such as DNS, IIS (Web and FTP), and PERL on Win32. Where else are you going to find all of these topics covered in one book? This is not some cheezy 800 page book of fluff with 3" margins and huge pictures..if you want that then keep on searching. This is a professional, well laid out, to-the-point book on Windows NT and TCP/IP. I hated New Riders' MCSE books - they were horrible. The new Landmark Series are great and for the first time I feel a publisher has finally found the recipe that O'Reilly uses and added some spice to it.

Not nearly as good as the O'Reilly book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows NT TCP/IP (Paperback)
I saw the mixed reviews on this book and went over and checked the ones on O'Reilly's Windows NT TCP/IP Network Administration by Hunt & Thompson. I didn't want to buy both so I went down to B&N at the mall and sat on the floor reading through them. The O'Reilly book is much better. This one is a typical New Riders book. In other words, not as as good as the O'Reilly. I wonder if all the anonymous reviews for this one were really written by the author. This isn't really a horrible book, but if the O'Reilly book deserves 5 stars this one only deserves one.
