Disclaimer is missing in description!,
This review is from: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit System Builder 1pk [Old Version] (DVD-ROM)
This product is not supported by Microsoft, just an FYI. That's why you get the $80 savings. This is fine if you don't need it.
Here's the disclaimer from Microsoft: Use of this OEM System Builder Channel software is subject to the terms of the Microsoft OEM System Builder License. This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed. To acquire Windows software with support provided by Microsoft please see our full package "Retail" product offerings. This should really be in the Amazon listing!

It's Windows 7. It's licensed for one computer ONLY. It installed and registered on my new system build like it was supposed to. No BSODs so far. Boots much faster than Vista. What more can I say?

I just decided to switch to a Mac computer after 20+ years of using PC's. However, I was worried that I would need Windows to access my work computer, so I purchased this to install using the bootcamp feature on the iMac. There was one issue with the wrong graphics drivers for the new iMac's, so while the bootcamp feature worked perfectly, the windows installer part causes the screen to go blank by installing the old iMac drivers. Thanks to YouTube, I found a simple video on how to access the Dos prompts from the installation disks to correct the driver issue and now it works flawlessly. It works very well on an iMac with the exception of the gliche in installation.

When I received the system builder version, the instructions said you need to download a support application from Microsoft to install it. And when I looked for it, it looks like you have to enter in some kind of agreement, with a fee.
Too bad that little piece of information was not Amazon's description... I didn't try to use the CD anyway, as I didn't want to open it and find out I just wasted $100 bucks. So I returned it to Amazon. I ended up buying the Upgrade edition, which cost $20 more. While this may be the best ever OS from Microsoft, this software is still just way too expensive; overpriced and under achieving. I think this will be the last version of Windows I'll ever buy. Of late, I have been using Ubuntu Linux, and it has almost as much to offer (and in some cases much more) than Windows, and just as likely OS X. I am dual booting my system with Win7 and Ubuntu, only because I still have a few DOS programs I need to run, and I have just about had it with Win Vista. But I expect I'll be using Ubuntu most of the time.

Windows 7 is much more efficient then XP and Vista. Win 7 seem to be a robust OS. I only needed the 32bit home edition for an older dell computer. Win 7 made the older dell PC with P4 processor and 1 GB of ram so much faster then XP. It will certainly extend the life of my old PC that is use for browsing internet.

Best O/S by Microsoft EVER,
This review is from: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit System Builder 1pk [Old Version] (DVD-ROM)
The install was the quickest and easiest, 25 minutes compared to Vista at 40 minutes and XP at 35 minutes. It starts up quicker then XP and Vista, and runs programs quicker as will. Unlike when both XP and Vista came out there were the driver problems, but with Windows 7 no driver problems at all. The number one thing I like is the task bar, that you can pin a program or a webpage, or any thing that you maybe working on for later "Once Click" access.
p.s. Windows Media Center come with QAM support with the OEM DVD Disc. unlike OEM version of Vista. Do not get Vista just go with windows 7.

Whats not to like? Great replacement for Vista. Responsive and not the resource hog that Vista was.

Hassle-free install to a new solid state drive on an 18-month old netbook,

This review will focus on the installation and initial setup of a clean install of this Windows 7 edition.
This operating system was used for an upgrade to an 18-month old MSI Wind U100-432 netbook in concert with the installation of an OCZ Technology 120 GB Vertex 2 solid state drive (SSD). The fresh install (instead of an "upgrade") path permitted use of the less expensive OEM kit instead of the retail-priced version. If you are a comfortable PC do-it-yourselfer, and are doing a hardware upgrade at the same time as the operating system refresh, you can select this version with confidence. Installation was trouble free. An *expected* boot failure appeared when the BIOS didn't detect a boot record on the SSD (there was none...it was a new drive). After plugging in an external DVD drive, the BIOS detected it immediately in its boot device list and began the Windows 7 installation. Note: You'll want to explore your computer's BIOS settings and make sure they include the device you intend to install from. Total Windows 7 operating system installation time (including reading from the external DVD drive to the blank SSD) was less than 20 minutes. The combination of the upgrade to Windows 7 (from XP) and a new SSD breathed new life into the netbook running this operating system. This computer is now enjoying the benefits of what is generally considered the best Windows operating system.

Windows7 came in a timely manner and was easy to install. Coming from WindowsXP, there's a huge learning curve. Also, it doesn't support Outlook Express; it supports Windows Live Mail, another learning curve. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I'm getting more acclimated to this operating system and I like it. I also purchased 'Windows7: The Missing Manual', which is helping to make the process less painful.
