BUY THIS BOOK, You will not be disappointed!!!,
By Jay Dub "Stop Offshoring, It's Killing IT in ... (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MCSE Windows XP Professional Practice Questions Exam Cram 2 (Exam 70-270) (Paperback)
I bought this book and read it over a two week period and passed my exam with flying colors. I can't begin to tell you how awesomely well this book prepared me for the exam. I scored almost 900 out of 1000 from reading this book and doing a couple of practice exams, nothing else just the book and practice exams. The chapter on monitoring and remote access is awesome. There is nothing wrong with this book. This book is a hole in one, a bulls eye, a pefect compliement to your experience and know how. Just make sure that you read it cover to cover. To pass this exam follow these simple steps.
1. Read this book cover to cover 2. Take a few practice exams. Make sure you get an 800 or higher on your practice exams, that will give you wiggle room just in case the test proves harder than you expected. 3. Take your real test. That's it nothing else. If you want to pass your exam... Then use this book.

This book is worth at least twice the listed Amazon price. Not only does it have a LOT of 70-270 Prep Questions, all of those questions are included on the CD and delivered via the MeasureUp engine.
I used this book, the FastPass and lots of hands on to pass the 70-270 exam on my first try.

There are too many easy questions, many errors, and the explanations to the answers tell you little more than the obvious. For the price, it's not a bad way to get a bunch of questions though.

I won't fault this book for it's outdated content. That would be assumed if you're using a 5 year old book to prepare for an always-being-updated test. I will just say that I took the test a few days ago and only 2 of the practice questions in this book were on the test. Most of the questions on the test dealt with topics that were never even covered in this book. Surely there must be a better and more relevant book.
The book also has a problem with typos. The typos are not just annoying, but also confusing. In most cases, the typos were not related to misspellings, but rather wrong answers. Staying on the topic of answers, the book claims to have over 500 questions with "detailed" answers. What they mean by detailed, is that they add the words "You need to" at the beginning of the answer, and "in order for it to work" at the end of the answer which forms a complete sentence or "detailed" answer. For example, if one of the choices for a question is: A. Enable third party cookies Then the "detailed" answer would be "The correct answer is A: You need to enable third party cookies in order for it to work." You're just repeating it back! How the hell is that a detailed answer!? Granted, most of the time when the book pulled this stunt, it was on a very easy question. I bought this book because at the time it was the most recommended companion study book by Amazon customers. I want to throw my review into the bunch and say that it's a waste of your money - Don't buy it! I also wanted to say that this book was supposed to come with a Cram Sheet Tear Card, which is an "Easy-to-handle item that condenses all the necessary facts found in the exam". My book did not come with one and it doesn't look like there was ever a place that held one. I actually would have liked one of those, although it probably would have been just as irrelevant as the rest of the book. The only good thing about this purchase is that it contains a PDF copy of the entire book on the included CD. For some reason, this is not even advertised. The book is no longer relevant however, so it really doesn't matter. |
