This review is from: Windows Server 2008 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies (Paperback)
I buy dummies books because they are a quick read and can have you on the ground quick. This one did not work out. I will not be buying and more multi-volume dummies books. They are self referencing to a point of madness. to complete one section you must refer to multiple previous or future volume chapters for topics. This was done to condense the books size however the information called out is often weak. It will provide you the google key words but not to much more.

I am a web developer who wanted to build a development server, this book was little help.

3.0 out of 5 stars Watch out using this for EC2 setup., November 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Windows Server 2008 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies (Paperback)
This book has given me some good information as I am a novice trying to set up a Windows 2008 Server. However, I was trying to set up an Amazon EC2 virtual server, and while following the steps to convert the server from a WorkGroup to a Domain, I managed to make the virtual server unaccessable and that little misstep cost me a couple of days and lost files. I learned that the set up for a virtual server is different than one sitting next to you and this book doesn't exactly cover that.

This review is from: Windows Server 2008 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies (Paperback)
This includes a number of Windows server books and is a good reference as all the "For Dummies" titles are. These people have a great formula and excellent editing I have never been disappointed in any of their books.
