I was more than a bit surprised and quite disappointed to find out after purchasing this in January of 2011 that it has not been updated to reflect the many changes to server core with the release of Server 2008 R2 in October of 2009.

There is little that is useful if your installation is current, and much that is now complete misinformation in this book. If you are looking for a useful reference to server core as it exists currently, this is NOT the book to buy.

Do not buy this book if you have no experience with command line interface there are better books than this one. This book is designed with the person in mind who knows the commands but can't think of the right one of the time. For that it is excellent. This book has helped me many times with day to day operations when I just could not think of the correct syntax or the proper command.

I am also an instructor,along with my network admin job, and required this book for my students to have for class so they have a good and quick reference book for our Server 2008 class.
