Good Book,

This review is from: Windows Home Server For Dummies (Paperback)
As with all Dummies books, or at least those that I have read, this one does an excellent job of giving you the basics. It doesn't provide all of the ins and outs of WHS, but that's not what a Dummies book is for. As a computer engineer, I read the dummies book for any new technology I'm going to deal with, then I get one of the all-inclusive books to give me the details. For the average WHS installer and user, the Dummies book is all you need.

Excellent book for newbies in home server,
By Dick C. (MN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Windows Home Server For Dummies (Paperback)
This book is excellent for anyone who wants to learn about home server. I read this book prior to purchase a HP MediaSmart Server. It helps me a great deal while I was installing the server. The instructions are precise, accurate and yet humorous. A truly well-written book.

Home Server for Home User,

This review is from: Windows Home Server For Dummies (Paperback)
This book tends to fill in the holes left by more 'in depth' and highly technical books on the market. It explains some of the processes much more simply, not making the assumptions that the reader is a computer geek. It is very readable and does cover all the areas that a typical home user would need to know.

Great Book to start you off right...,
This review is from: Windows Home Server For Dummies (Paperback)
Windows Home Server for Dummies is a great book added to the series. Everything is explained in a very easy to read detailed manner. Nothing was overlooked. I particularly enjoyed the way the author organized the book so that you may either read it in order or skip around to different topics. The only downside to this book is it does not contain the new functionality that Power Pack 2 implements, such as over the network Windows Home Connector software installation, etc. Overall great buy for any newbie or expert that wants to get a better grasp and understanding of Windows Home Server.

This is a great reference for the beginner and even novice Home Server users. It is laid out in an easy to read/understand fashion by professionals working in the industry. Windows Home Server is definitely different than the other Server based OS's on the market, so even if you are familiar with other server software this manual helps to educate on Windows Home Server.
Get the book, Read the book, buy yourself a Home Server and back your data up confidently! The world is moving quickly towards media streaming, Windows Home Server is a great place to keep everything centralized on your network! Another home run by Woody!

I enjoyed the "war stories" insights from an obviously proficient author. Using his advice, my WHS system is happily backing up my home computers and storing my important files. The book is a good value to get maximum benefit from WHS.

Good book,

Woody's stuff is always great. I don't expect all of the arcane technical matter in any book "for Dummies". This book contains a good mix of information and humor.
Amazon delivered the book before the server arrived, so I actually read the book before I started messing with the server. I didn't have any problems.

This is good overview material for Windows Home Server. The book is not overly technical, but it does provide a fairly large amount of good information.

This book is an excellent resource of information. Whether you want to build your own, or had bought an HP or Acer box, you will be satisfied with the info here. The book is written a side of humor, and is not bloated with useless information.
