2.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8 synopsis not Superguide October 31, 2012
At $3 one can hardly complain but this 20 page leaflet is really no more than a summary of recent articles on PC World and many sites that cover Windows 8, my own at NJN Network included.

Very very light on details and mostly just a brief overview of what Windows 8 is.

2.0 out of 5 stars Win-8 November 2, 2012
Verified Purchase
Possibly good for the absolute first-time user but this tiny book is really no more than a summary of recent articles in PC World about Windows 8, and if a reader has ever installed any Windows OS then they already know much of the book contents.
The balance of the book (Win-8 requirements, Security, Touch gestures) are so brief and seemingly glossed over as to be near the point of uselessness.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD STARTER, BUT SERIOUS USERS NEED LOT MORE! September 2, 2013

WELL WRITTEN BOOK WHICH COVERS THE INTRODUCTION TO WINDOWS 8, BUT FALLS FAR SHORT OF PROVIDING INFORMATION ON WHATS UNDER THE HOOD. THE KINDLE EDITION IS NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE THE FIGURES WHICH CONTAIN THE MOST USEFUL INFORMATION CAN NOT BE MAGNIFIED (ONLY THE TEXT). THIS IS NOT THE AUTHORS FAULT! SO BUY THE BOOK!

3.0 out of 5 stars A fair starting point. December 5, 2012

This is strictly an introduction as "what to expect", but it contains very little regarding "how to make this work".

Good book to help you get started in Windows 8. Has tips of how to get around and find things in this very different OS than what I was used to.

I did not purchase this book. I do not use Windows 8, as I am still in Vista, that great scourge, which works for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless
Has nothing to offer. Content deals primarily with upgrading, not utilization.I would like more comprehensive manual. 8 is a whole new world. I hope MS gets the message!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book
This was a good book describing Windows 8. I hoped that the book might make me like Windows 8 a bit better, but I do not like it on a desktop or notebook computer.
