X -Windows but not forgotten, November 7, 2010
This review is from: X Windows System Administrator's Guide, Vol 8 (Definitive Guides to the X Window System) (Paperback)
At one time X was all the rage. I still prefer it to many of today's substitutes. In the days of X we knew what the server was and what was the client before Microsoft misused the term. Today you are probably using X and do not realize it. On your terminal emulator tied to a UNIX system type "echo $TERM" at the command prompt.
Volume 8 is comprehensive and even today can give insight as to how X works and how you can take advantage of it.
This is an X silent book
