Good reference, but needs an update.,
This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
Although this is a good reference book, the march of technology has left this book is quite dated. Ted Harwood refers to MetaFrame 1.0 while version 1.8 has been out for quite some time. Citrix will be releasing 2.0 soon after Microsoft releases Terminal Server with Windows 2000 Server on February 17. The brief reference to integration into a Netware environment does not describe the updates that Novell have released to ensure compatibility of NDS for NT TSE and MetaFrame.

Ok, but mostly for Terminal Server implementations,

This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
The book reads ok, but is quite heavily oriented towards MS NT Terminal Server and seems to neglect the Citrix part of the story so it's actually for the low-end of implementations. It speaks only of Citrix Metaframe 1.0 and therefore no mention of Program Neighborhood. Also, common services like loadbalancing, Resource Management and Unix Integration Services are only summarized or not mentioned at all. It's ok for starters and to get an idea of Windows server-based computing but needs an update.

I have barely any experience with Citrix before but this book has brought me from nearly zero knowledge of Citrix to being able to Administer a simple Citrix network.I took me only 3 days to read this through and absorb all the information. Very well laid out. Definitely get this book if you need basic to intermediate information on Terminal Server / Metaframe. A++

This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
I had Metaframe and Terminal Server installed on 2 servers. I bought this book about the time the software was loaded. I recommend buying the book before implementing the project - whether you do it yourself or someone else helps. This is a truly awesome overview with some detail about the products. For the price, you can't go wrong. I highly reommend it.

Great Guide for TS Rollout,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
Good step wise book for clarification for using both ICA and RDP clients. Easy reading with lots of helpful links to related resources. Could use a step-wise summary for rollouts and go into greater detail for application compatibility issues. Overall, a solid resource and very helpful.

A must for those wanting to learn Terminal Server,

This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
This book along with "Windows NT Thin Client Solutions: Implementing Terminal Server and Citrix Metaframe" by Mathers et al with provide the newbie with an excellent introduction to the TS/Metaframe environment. The most useful chapter is on security which even has a great deal a relevance to plain NT.

Not Bad....,
This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
This book isn't too bad. It focuses more on Terminal Server than MetaFrame (but i suppose that is fair enough, as the title is TS). Some of the stuff is very basic like Profiles and Policies, configuring RAS and things like that which are really just NT fundamentals - however, some of the Policy and Profile stuff is VERY important for Terminal Server. The Login Script section is very good as is the Application Installation and Troubleshooting part. Overall, well written and quite informative, but leaves you wanting more...use in conjunction with the MF Admin Guide and the other Terminal Server/MF title.

WinFrame,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
I bought and read this book awhile ago. I took it back for a refund because I found it misleading. I needed a book that focused mainly on Terminal Server and MetaFrame. The title said MetaFrame but the content seemed to focus on WinFrame, the little bit of content devoted to MetaFrame was lacking the in depth information I was looking for and did not cover version 1.8. The book was probably good when first published but is getting outdated.

Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix Metaframe,
By A Customer
This review is from: Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
Great book. Extremely informative. Makes lots of hardcore NT server material readable and understandable. Covers a very large scope of readers. This is not a for dummies only book. This is not a book for techies only. Great book for technically astute systems managers that wants to know what to do with WTS and thin client tecnology.
