The book begins with logical overviews of NT TSE and Citrix MetaFrame. The authors illustrate the considerable benefits of extending TSE with MetaFrame to address scalability, management, and compatibility concerns. A section covering server management, hardware configurations, and workstation hardware requirements follows. The first part of the book wraps up with a discussion of the OSI model, transport protocols, and LAN versus WAN configurations.
Part 2 presents the planning process involved in the implementation. The authors cover the crucial topics of defining policies, training users, establishing security and auditing policies, and managing user accounts. They also detail installation and configuration and Web implementations. The authors include numerous flowcharts and easy-to-read diagrams and offer their own personal experiences with Author's Note and Tip boxes. If you're considering thin client solutions, this guide is a definitive reference. --Stephen W. Plain

Very Good Book,

Very good book if you are new to thin client technology. Covers new installation very well and has some excellent tips on setting up TSE and MetFrame. Also covers common pit-fall areas like user profiles and directory security. I passed the CCA exam but would not rely on this book as the only source. Get exp. with the product.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking at implementing a thin client solution. I am reseller of the thin client product and have made this book required reading not only for my technicians but sales personnel as well. I found that the overview section in very comprehensive in describing the concept behind thin client technology. I have also purchased three extra copies of this book for clients who are considering the use of this technology in their environment. By do so I find that the sales education time for the client is significantly reduced and the client feels they have a better understanding of the individual components.

Good Introduction,

This review is from: Windows NT Thin Client Solutions: Implementing Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame (Paperback)
This book is excellent as an introduction to what Metaframe can do. Buy this book if you're thinking about installing it. Don't buy it if you already have a Metaframe installation; this book is not a reference guide.
