In addition to the chapters on file and printer sharing, the author details basic administrative tasks in each of the two environments. Henriksen explores the similarities and differences among different Unix flavors when it comes to connecting them to Windows NT machines. Linux, SCO Unix, and Solaris receive special attention, in addition to general Unix coverage.
If you're a long-time Unix or Windows NT user and need to learn the basics of the other system, this book can get you started. Naturally, more complete references for both Unix and Windows NT exist, but the material here serves as a nice complement to the inter-operability passages. --David Wall

Avoid this book : too little , no linux , too proprietary,
By israel thomas (sydney australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Windows NT and UNIX Integration (Textbook Binding)
This book is best avoided.Around 1/3rd of the book is elementary introductory stuff about NT and Unix. The rest is about proprietary versions of Unix and various items of commercial software. The author is employed by SCO and SCO products feature very very very very prominently in this poor excuse for a book. It also shows you pretty pictures of Hummingbird Exceed. It has a worthless discussion of the X Windowing system at a level that moved me to tears of disgust. Amazingly, Linux has just a few lines. Samba has about one page. This book is outdated and not worth the shelf space. Save your money.Stick to O'Reilley books. If you absolutely have to read this wretched book, borrow it from some university library.

Short, Incomplete Reference,

This is one of three books on Windows NT and UNIX integration I now own. While the book did provide base level information, it was simply incomplete. Better books exist on the topic. Skip this one.
