This review is from: Windows Vista for Seniors: For Senior Citizens Who Want to Start Using Computers (Computer Books for Seniors series) (Paperback)
I use this this book to teach NEWBIES who recieved Vista on their first computers. It is working very well and several have gone on to work on their own.
Only one set of commands is given, and the print quality is cheap and hard to see in the screen shots(no color). It is vital that users follow each chapter from step one to get the full benefit. Good for the money and in clear language for seniors and newbies! Hard to keep open on a desk beside the computer area.

The best thing I love about this manual is...No one talks down to a person not condascending at all. It walks a person through each step and encourages you to try things, It lets you feel pretty secure in the knowledge you won't end up blowing you or your computer into outer space. I would recommend any older adult to try this text book. In fact, I believe a youngster could get a proper, solid background in learning to use a computer wisely.

I periodically teach a 10 week class for seniors who have never used a computer, but want to do so for email and the Internet. I have found Windows XP for Seniors and this book, Windows Vista for Seniors, to be the ideal instruction books. My class has no problem following the illustrated step-by-step instructions, and the exercises help retention of the material covered. I believe a senior could learn to use a computer, even without going to a class, by carefully following the instructions in this book. This series is the best available for seniors.

This is my 3rd book on trying to master Vista. I have Vista for Dummies Dummies, another one I just threw away. This is by far the very best book
for novices or seniors that I have come across.... I've found out things I never knew existed

My wife, over 80,never used my desktop computer. We bought her a new laptop and she is learning more than I know about computers. When she finishes it she will be teaching me.

The visual steps books are the best computer insruction books I have ever seen.Far better than the Dummies books. These books are appropriate for anyone new to the world of computers not just seniors. The Visual Step books are written assuming the reader has no knowledge of computers and go step by step with absoloute clarity. If anyone is stuggling to master their computer they cannot afford to be without the Visual Step books.A great investment at a very modest price.

Book is excellent for a beginner. It takes you by the hand and leads you thru the whole system. Also a good value for the price. Would recommend for a beginner, and even a fairly good user as a reference. Love the book.

This book is very informative to people like me who are not very good with the computer. It's step by step instruction is very easy to follow. Who says seniors can't figure out the computer??? It's very worthwhile reading. There are little things to do with my computer, I never would have tried or knew existed. Excellent book.

I had used XP for Seniors by Addo Stuur and this book is almost a copy of that one. The only new items are the screen shots and the things only Vista has. Since I am quite familiar with Vista I did not find this book very helpful in learning Vista. However for a senior who had no prior knowledge of Vista or computers in general this book would probably be useful. I am a senior (80) and quite familiar with computers having used them since the late seventies. I was also one of the reviewers of the Beta copy of Vista and the pre-release copy of Vista so I am knowledgeable about this subject.

Bought this for my 80+ mother who finally got her own computer and thanks to this book she is confidently moving ahead and trying everything. I've used the "Dummies" and "Idiot" books for years but I think I will switch to this series for myself in the future.
