If you administer a Windows NT network and want to cut down on the number of easy but annoying questions you have to answer, tell your users to consult this book before they call you.

Focusing on Windows NT Workstation 4 with Service Pack 3 and the Internet Explorer 4.x suite installed (including Active Desktop), this book is slightly behind the technology curve but right on target for most corporate installations. The author approaches the operating system through its functional areas, beginning with how to manage files, folders, and print jobs. He takes on the Control Panel elements alphabetically and one at a time, so it's easy to find out, for example, what's going on in the Fonts applet.

In addition to its considerable collection of user-level how-to information, there's also some administrative data to be found in these pages. Boyce explains how to set up various kinds of networks under Windows NT Workstation and covers file systems, users, groups, and all the administrative tools.
