I could not locate my software box, so I googled the answer. Studio 12 will not work on Windows XP. It really needs 64bit so that the additonal ram can be used. Windows 7 works find. If you need to also use XP you can download Virtual machine from Microsoft and have both. I run Studio 12 on a system with 32 KB ram and a solid state drive for boot and a 1000gb drive for files. I also run virtual machine which lets me run my older XP software inside the Win 7 OS I would suggest at least 8GB ram and I would stay away from Windows 8 until the first service pack is out. You can downgrade to Windows 7 but you have to ask your dealer. A fast Quad Core system would be best. but Duel Core will work. Separate Video Card with at least a 1gb ram Hope that helps
According to Sony's website this version is compatible with Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8--so if I had to make an educated guess I would have to say probably not. If I were you I'd go to Sony Creative Software's website and ask your question on the forum for movie studio and see if anyone is running this version on XP.
According to the box, the minimum system requirement for OS version is Windows Vista (either 32 bit or 64 bit) or Windows 7. It might still run, but my recommendation would be to visit the Sony website and download the trial version before making your purchase.
