4.0 out of 5 stars Very novel novel, July 10, 2006

This review is from: Windrusher and the Cave of Tho-hoth (Paperback)
Don't read this unless you :
1. Enjoy cats (preferably to the point of admiring them);
2. Can suspend disbelief (like I had to do with the first book);
3. Feel like bad guys really should pay for their crimes; and
4. The good guys deserve a little happiness; and finally
5. You don't mind staying up too late to find out what happens next.

My wife and I thouroughly enjoyed the first book when it came out (I would've given it 4.25 stars) and looked forward to this one as well. The novelty was a wee bit thinner this time because it is a sequel, but it's good to curl up with a favorite cat - er, character, like in this story - ya-know-what-I-mean? If you're thinking about reading this, buy the two books together and do it right.
I originally read the local press release and thought, "well, I'll just encourage this guy - he's done good things for PBS and I'm filthy rich anyway (I think I had just come back from South America, but never mind), so I'll buy his book." I did and really enjoyed it. Although this is 1/4 star less cool, I'm glad I read it because of that feeling I alluded to above: Windrusher had become a noble friend and I wanted to make contact again. I had tried using the universal "inner ear" shared by all cats in their sleep but apparently cats are exclusive about joining in, so I had to buy the book instead - and I'm very glad I did.
