5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT! SIMLPY GREAT!, September 25, 2005

Freakin amazing! i cannot belive the guys from decapitated who were all under 20 at the time could play like this. i understand the the youngest one was the drummer and he freaking sounds like a guy whos been playing all his life. the riffs are sick and intense, especially the cover of Slayer's Mandatory Suicide. the musicianship of these kids is beyond belief. i find myself falling more and more in love with this album because the drive that the kids portay is undeniable. sadly there later albums are not as good but it gets the job done. this album is full of thrashyness and is clear their main inspiration is from vader. speaking of which, if u like vader u will love this. if u want that intense fast-speed thrashy death metal taste get this

5.0 out of 5 stars Winds of Creation, March 21, 2003

This band is amazing. When they recorded this album their drummer was only 16, the bassist 18 and singer and guitarist only 19. Not to mention they wrote half of this stuff when they were 13 and 14! It's unbelievable. Amazing compositions, none of those [bad] lyrics, virtuoso guitar work, this has everything and it will pound the ... out of you at the same time. This is so much better than "Nihility" in song writing and production (not to mention this has far better guitar solos). Don't be fooled by thier young age, this is some of the most intricate metal I've heard in a long time, perhaps ever! Buy this album if you like technical death metal, good songwriting and for proof that their is a future for extreme music. ....

Highlight of "Winds of Creation" - "Human's Dust"

5.0 out of 5 stars Percussive thrashy death metal assault, June 17, 2003

Poland's Decapitated weaves complex riffing and twisting melodies around ungodly heavy double bass drum patterns. Much of the riffing is more thrashy and many of the solos sound Slayer-esque, albeit more musical. The faster parts are built around jarring syncopated rhythms while intelligent lyrics are vomited by a vocalist who sounds like a demon coughing up blood. This creative offering by these relative newcomers is a welcome change from the stagnating releases from many older death metal bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Winds of Creation, July 3, 2001

Absolutely awesome death metal from these Polish youngsters - blows away current offerings from stalwarts such as Morbid Angel. Just forget they are 17-20 year old boys, they are musicians of the highest standard and listen to these mesmorizing riffs and rapid skinwork that is epitomised on "Humans Dust" and the title track. If technical death metal is your style you wont find a better current band to listen to. I think these guys will only get better for many years to come, ditch the stale Deicide, Morbid Angel etc. and follow the new creative leaders in death metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Rippeth Mucheth A@@eth, January 28, 2001
This review is from: Winds of Creation (Audio CD)
The more I listen to this album, the more I love it. It's a little deathy, a little thrashy, and and just an all around headbanging good time. Metalheads have been hesitant to overpraise this album due to the band's incredibly young age. But I won't. This is a top five album of 2000. Probably top three.

Some have claimed some of the songs drag a little in the middle, but I just don't hear it. This album sets my head to reflexively start banging more than any other in recent memory. Lots of good creative riffing, speed changes, tight drumming, and enough diversity to keep things fresh from start to finish. The one slight drawback: the vocals are a little too one-dimensional and monotonous. But it's small complaint when the music itself is so competently written and performed.

Overall, this is one of those CDs that's both technically impressive and fun to listen to. A hard to beat combo. Other CDs to check out if you like Decapitated are Monstrosity's "Millenium" and Hate Eternal's awesome "Conquering the Throne."

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets better every time..., July 7, 2005
This review is from: Winds of Creation (Audio CD)
This cd is insanely tight and brutal. And the solos, holy (....) There is madness going on with this cd. And it's FAST and H...E...A...V...Y. That makes for a perfect cd, imo. WOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whoah!, August 2, 2004

In the dark, murky realm of death metal, perhaps no band is more worthy of taking hold Excalibur's hilt and leading the next charge down the mountain into fiery oblivion than Poland's Decapitated, and one need look no further for proof than on the band's 2000 debut, Winds of Creation. This is the bands heaviest and most brutal release to date. They have got mellower since this, but this is still a classic and should always be viewed as a classic. To say less is an absolute blasphemy! To begin with, the band has a seemingly effortless understanding and command of both their instruments and death metal's highly stylistic requirements. The mind-bendingly blistering technical virtuosity would be amazing in a group of older musicians, much less for a band of teenagers, and better yet, they refrain from slipping into the routine, over-the-top expediency so common in their genre; the guys in Decapitated truly seem committed to getting death metal out of its then current rut and taking it to another level, and another plus is that the songwriting is extremely solid; even in the first listen! A must buy by all means. GET THIS CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, July 26, 2003
This review is from: Winds of Creation (Audio CD)
I have spun this thousands of times and it never gets old. The first time I listened to it I was driving between Deming and Silver City NM (one maddening straight stretch of road) and it was kicking after the third track. It literally took my breath away. This is thrilling death metal to be sure. Decapitated is relentless and pummeling. The makeup of the songs is masterful and I can honestly say I've never heard death metal played so originally and proudly. It's as if they're breathing new life into the old tradition. We are truely blessed to have these guys around keeping it real during this deprived time in metal history. Among my favorite tracks is The First Damned and the absolute masterpiece The Eye Of Horus. Unbelievable song developement and deviant riffage abound. Talent talent talent. Keep studying guys, we'll all reap the rewards!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Masterpiece, July 16, 2002

There is so much variety, and creativity in each song that instantly, for me, this album is a full on classic that will never grow old. You can always hear something new it seems on this record. One of the reviewers mentioned that "character" was a strong point in this record. I think that was a great assessment. These lads just pour everything they have into their music. Brutality, melodic, catchy...twisting, turning, winding, stoking....are a few things that come to mind. Their new album is no exception.....phenomenal.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Revolution Has Begun..., February 10, 2002
This review is from: Winds of Creation (Audio CD)
this is by far one of the best metal albums I have heard in a long time. The opening and title track is a stand out track that sets the mood for the rest of the album. It is a serious of blastbeats that are placed so that it actually sounds like they know what they are doing. The riffs? What about the riffs, these riffs and bass lines could creat an earthquake. One of the best new bands out there. A recomdation to all metal heads.
